  2. Back on the topic, that is awesome. I'd imagine they do get a lot of free time, especially during rain delays and stuff like that.
  3. Yeah, Griffey's game was sweet too. I used to know all the silly little codes to make the pitchers dance on the mound, etc. There was one that made it so your next pitch couldn't be hit no matter what. And then there was the ultimate code that made Griffey call his shot like Babe Ruth, and no matter where the pitch was, if he made contact, it went out of the park.

  5. Nobody gets married on a Tuesday, do they? How annoying would that be for your friends, having to get the day off work. Agreed. A friend of mine has to go to a Thursday night wedding next month. She is not happy. Getting married on a Thursday can really only mean two things: You're broke and can't afford a weekend ceremony or you are the cheapest couple alive.
  6. Was it really worth jumping all over me last night if you were going to admit that in the end? I went with who I thought would help his team more in the 2nd half, it happened to be Lee, and I'm not alone in this. You went with Fielder, which is fine. You're definitely not alone in that either. I don't think either team will lose out either way. But we could've saved ourselves a lot of hassle had we just admitted that yesterday. yes because prior production has very little to do with future production when you're looking at it wrong. We disagree that I'm looking at it wrong. You seem to think that Lee is over the hill, and incapable of having a better second half than he had first. Historically his worst months of the season are the first two. Those are behind him now. I expect his numbers to improve. Fielder is young and on the rise, so you're not crazy to think he's going to keep this pace up. But we'll disagree on Lee forever, so I'll leave it at that and go eat dinner.

  8. I believe on the first page, a Brewers fan even said he'd take the vet from this point forward, but he did say he expects the Brewers guys to match Lee and Aram. Apologies to Ender if you aren't in fact a Brewers fan, but I thought I remembered hearing you were from another thread.
  9. That's fine, but by your logic, Barry Bonds is having a better year than Fielder, and I doubt anyone would agree with that. bonds -- 1.050 OPS fielder -- .992 OPS bonds -- 178 OPS+ fielder -- 157 OPS+ I'm sorry if my wanting a guy that can do more than hit home runs offends you. By the way you guys are responding, you'd think I said I wanted Hee Sop Choi or something. It's really not that far fetched that someone would want Derrek Lee from this point forward, especially considering the two months that are historically his worst of the season, are behind him.
  10. I'm not saying Fielder is a bad player. He's a great player, everyone knows that. The original article said "most Cub fans would rather have Fielder than Lee the rest of the year", and I disagreed. Lee hits more, gets on base more, plays better defense, can run, etc. So I don't see why it's so far fetched that I would want him on my team the rest of the way.
  11. How is it biased? Those are the numbers straight up. You can't argue with those. The only thing that Fielder has been better than Lee at this year is hitting home runs, plain and simple. If you can find something else, feel free. I don't know what measuring stick you use to judge players, but I go by their numbers. Fielder hits more home runs, Lee does more of everything else. the only thing fielder has been better at than lee is hitting, plain and simple..regardless of who has more singles, doubles, stolen bases, etc...all told, fielder has been substantially better. you can try to pull out individual statistics to help your argument all you want, but it doesn't change the fact that fielder has been much better than lee as an offensive player. No, the only thing that Fielder has been better than Lee at this year is hitting home runs. Until you can back up your claims with some stats, I won't change my mind on that. Lee has been better at everything else other than hitting home runs. Statistics prove that.
  12. are you saying you've had sex nine times since you got married? I think he means it's been 9 days since she was in the mood. At least I hope so...for his sake. Unless he got married yesterday. Then he might need a water break or something.
  13. I said it was a small sample size, so it's probably irrelevant. But he doesn't have a proven track record of having a better second half either. So you can't say he's a lock to keep up his numbers. On that note, it's late, and I have to work tomorrow. Time for bed.

  15. We can't do that. As for the rest of the post, DING, you win. I'm actually giving you permission. I never thought that my opinion that I'd rather have one all star over another would cause such a stir, but apparently it did.
  16. This will be my last post on this cause it's obvious that we'll never agree on anything. Out of the standard stats, Lee currently has more hits in less at bats, more doubles, more triples (although 1 to nothing isn't saying much), more walks, less strikeouts, a higher average, a higher on base percentage, more steals, plays gold glove defense, and generally plays BETTER later in the season than he does in the beginning. Fielder has more runs (which generally isn't Lee's fault besides the lack of power), more homers, more rbi's, and a better slugging %. That's it. Not to mention, although I know it's an extremely small sample size, his power numbers drop off in the 2nd half of the season (1 homer every 14 at bats in the 1st half, 1 homer every 20 at bats in the second half.) He has yet to prove to me that he can keep up his pace all season. So call me a moron if you want. I really don't care. Fielder is having a better year up to this point. But just because a guy hits a lot of homeruns, doesn't mean he's a better alternative. Fielder has more home runs than Pujols right now too, but I'd rather have Pujols the rest of the year as well.
  17. Based on what? The fact that Prince Fielder has shown he can keep his numbers up for a full season? I may be a homer, but you know generally what you're going to get with Lee. A solid, consistent player with MUCH better defense than Fielder. That's why I want him. There's more to baseball than fantasy stats. Fielder isn't a DH. And he hasn't been around long enough for us to know if he can keep this pace up. He probably will, but there's no guarantee either way. But like I said, it's just one man's opinion. If you don't want Lee, fine, but don't criticize other's opinions simply because they don't see things the way you do. im pretty sure i have every right to criticize someone's opinion. If you don't want it to be criticized, don't post it. You can keep dreaming that Prince isn't better than Lee, but remember it's just a dream. Your nightmare of Prince being better than Lee is reality. Show me where I said Lee was better than Prince. Please, show me. I'd like to see it. I never once said that. And I won't say it. All I said is I'd rather have Lee for the rest of the season. If you feel different, good for you. I'll mail you a cookie.
  18. So you're saying that defense means nothing? Why even give them gloves then?
  19. Possibly. But Lee has historically been WAY better later in the season than he is in April and May (.261 in April and May, .291 the rest of the year). If he follows suit, I think he'll be just fine.

  21. Prince Fielder doesn't have to catch errant throws in fantasy baseball... Lee is hitting 50 points higher (yes, 50), it's not such a stretch to think that he'll regain his power form in the second half (already has 2 homers in his last 3 games). He won't catch up to Fielder in home runs, but if we're talking real baseball for the rest of the year, I'll go with Lee. And I wouldn't take Jason Kendall over anyone. oh, lee has him beat in batting average? why didn't you say so...i take it all back. one more thing though...fielder is slugging 124 points higher (yes, 124! waaay more than lee's robust 50 point lead in average) than lee. I'm sorry I'd prefer a proven veteran gold glover that's hitting .330 over essentially a 2nd year guy that has yet to prove he can keep his numbers and torrid pace at this level all season. Just one guy's opinion. If you'd prefer Fielder, than fine. I know Fielder is slugging way higher, but I said FROM THIS POINT FORWARD, I'd rather have Lee. You never know what could happen from now on. Lee could outslug Fielder by a ton for all we know.

  23. Agreed. Although I think most people (hopefully) are cheering because the Brewers just got that much weaker heading into the second half of the season.
  24. Um, I know Fielder is having a great year, but I'd still want Derrek Lee the rest of the year. Yes, his power is down, but he provides great defense, hit's .330, drives in runs, etc. I also don't think his power will stay this bad all season. I'm going with the proven vet over the young guy that got off to a great start.
