  1. We've been over this before. 1) Could not find the plate for long stretches with a map and a compass 2) Fell in love with that slider of his, threw it for times 6, 7 pitches in a row, used it as his main pitch instead of a setup pitch.
  2. Hey guys. I loved "This Old Cub." It is truly an inspiring movie. How did your father take the trade to the White Sox at the end of his career? Did you ever hear him talk about the year he spent on the South Side? Also, do he and Pat Hughes keep in touch during the offseason?
  3. Its sad that you even have to "fly it in right" *Sigh* I cant wait till that man makes the hall, and gets his number retired. OMFG HE SHULDNT BE IN DA HALL HE TOOK STEROIDS AND CORKED HIS BAT AND CHEATED OMG WHAT A CHEATER AND HE BLASTED HIS MUSIC IN DA CLUBHOUSE AND HIS HEAD IS 6X BIGGER THAN IN HIS ROOKIE YEAR OMG DID I MENTION HE USED STEROIDS????
  4. You gotta retire #21 about 10 years down the road, too. Fly it in right.
  5. Heh, he did try to body slam Affedlt, but at the last minute, Affedlt just DDT'd him. What is DDT'd? Like if you watch WWF or WCW awhile ago, where Diamond Dallas Page just stuns him. Jake "The Snake" Roberts did it, too Pretty much, you take someones head under your arm. You then fall backwards (or down) rapidly, ramming thier head into the ground. That's the best way I can describe the move. I used to DDT my brother all the time on an old mattress we had in our attic.
  6. No. Lee seems to me like the type of guy who would want to earn it. Say he had the triple crown going into the last series of the season, but Aram beat him in homers, I'm sure Lee would shake his hand in the locker room and say "congratulations." Lee is far too classy to let anything like that happen.
  7. I heard a story once that Sandberg forced managements hand after Raffy slept with Cindy Sandberg and said "it's either him or me". Any truth to that, or did they just pick Grace over Raffy, and moved Raffy for a need?
  8. Heh, he did try to body slam Affedlt, but at the last minute, Affedlt just DDT'd him. Yup, that's always the momentum shifter. I love me some DDT.
  9. I don't doubt your stats, but when was the last time the Cubs threw more than 17 pitchers in an inning? Talk about killing your bullpen!
  10. What?? Did I miss a Detroit-KC game that I shouldn't have? Yup, bench-clearing brawl, 7 ejections, Farmsworth among them. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2110060
  11. What do Paul Wilson and Jeremy Affelt have in common? A: Both have been tackled by Kyle Farnsworth during a game.
  12. That would have been the play of the year had he gotten the out at first. Glad Z is ok, though.
  13. Cubs are 45-0 when scoring more runs than their opponent. Cubs are 0-45 when scoring fewer runs than their opponent. What can I say? I'm a prophet.
  14. Haha, that was one of the best Cub games I ever watched. Was that the game in which Ricky Gutierrez had an "interesting time on the basepaths, but eventually scored against the Rockies? I think so. That was the one where the final play was grounder with the bases loaded, the Rockies threw it all over the place, and Guttierez finally sprinted for home and just beat the throw to score the winning run. I wanna say Girardi hit the grounder.
  15. Haha, that was one of the best Cub games I ever watched.
  16. Blueheart05, could you please fix your avatar? It's messing up the whole page.
  17. Kind of a sloppy defensive inning, but we're still up by 5. I'm on lunch. How'd we score all the runs today?
  18. Thanks for the insight Joe Morgan. No, His keys would look something more like this: 1. Play Good defense. When you play defense, you win ballgames. Just look at the Reds back when I played. 2. Score runs, You have to score runs. Remember the reds??? We scored alot. 3. You have to have a good Pitc....DID YOU KNOW I PLAYED FOR THE REDS OMG WE WERE SO GREAT HAHA!!!!!! WOW! 4. I was the greatest second baseman in the history of the game. Ryne Sandberg sucks!! Fixed it for you.
  19. Let this be a lesson. Never get too positive about this team.
  20. But what does this stat help determine? Offensive value?
  21. When we had Brian McRae leading off, it was like this. Lousy from the left side, but pretty good from the right. But, with the lack of lefties in the NL central at the time, he pretty much faced exclusive righthanded pitching, forcing him to hit lefty. As I've said before, the whole lefty vs. righty thing is far too overrated.
