  1. It would be funny if Moises had a little half swing grounder back to Hill, just like he did for us.
  2. The Cubs are also 5-5 in games at Wrigley Field in which I've been in attendance. I have a current 5-game losing streak. I hope to turn things around on Wednesday, watching Z mow down the Giants..... (hopefully).
  3. Unfortunately, neither will happen. The Reds won't want to trade a big bat to a division rival, and Murton could be the 2nd coming of Babe Ruth and Dusty still wouldn't play him more than once a week.
  4. Good for Joe -- He's a good guy and I hope he is able to continue his success in Tampa. That said -- I don't miss him in the Cubs pen. It was time to move on. 5 2/3rds isn't that big of a sample size, but how come he couldn't do that here?
  5. Kinda O/T, but who starts on Wednesday?
  6. I hope they win Wednesday. I'm making my annual trip to Wrigley that day. Losers have lost the last 5 times I've been down there. They better not make it 6 or there'll be hell to pay.
  7. Welcome to the forum. Please check the game threads, that would be the appropriate place for that post. But welcome aboard!
  8. Actually, it is Pair-ez. At least that's the way they pronounce it here, where it's 80% hispanic. It's definitely PER-ez (emphasis on the first syllable)... Same with CHA-vez.. That one also gets butchered all the time... Even Eric Chavez thinks it's pronounced Cha-VEZ... ah, well... We've had this convo before, lol. Well fine. Be that way. See if I care. :P
  9. Before you give them too much credit please remember that 3 of their 4 runs came on homeruns. I'm not talking about today's game. I'm talking about all season. The Cardinals can slug with anyone, but they can also get consecutive singles and doubles when they need to.
  10. Going back a few innings, the Cardinals are a good team because they can string hits together and make things happen. The Cubs are still back on thier "sit back and wait for the 3-run homer" mode, not walking and such.
  11. Ok, because of that you know that means Dusty is going to talk Hendry into re-signing Neifi after the year instead of letting him walk and letting Cedeno get some time or back up Nomar. And damn, is he getting annoying with the names. It's like he's doing it to stand out. It's Per-EZ, not PAIR-ez. I remember when he called the Alou's "Ah-low" a few years ago. SHUT. UP!
  12. Neifi with a grand slam! Amazement in John Miller's voice. And it's Per-EZ, not PER-ez.
  13. Not a flame, but why do people think that a closer HAS to have shut-down stuff? I don't care if he's a junkballer whose fastball can't crack 85. As long as he gets people out, I couldn't care less. Dempster has done very well. Yes, he struggled yesterday in his save, but closers (even the dominant ones) struggle from time to time. The end result was we won, and that's all I care about.
  14. Vance, if you don't tackle Pujols, at least get a few shots in on Edmonds. We'll understand. ;)
  15. Just remember...if the Cubs are getting blown out, don't be afraid to run onto the field and tackle Pujols. We'll all be proud of you. Haha. Awesome.
  16. If we don't leave St. Louis with a win, the season is officially over.
  17. I've given up on the season too, pretty much. I wasn't expecting much even when we were 8 of 9, but I say keep Walker. I don't see why everyone is so gung-ho about trading him.
  18. What an idiotic statement. Cubs fans have stood by their team for nearly 100 freakin years. We are allowed to be harsh on under-acheivers after all the crap we have had to endure. You do realize I was taking that from the article right...just checking. Well, reps change. Sammy Sosa was a megastar, and the whole country saw how we booed him out of town. I think it's logical that such action could have slightly altered the perception of Cub fans. It makes sense to me that people would say, 'man, those Cubs sure turned on Sammy Sosa. Wasn't he their hero just last year or so?' Then we run out LaTroy, then we boo Corey non-stop.... It's a different breed of Cub fan than year's past IMO. Maybe it'll stick, maybe it won't. This is a breed of Cub fan that won't just sit back and blindly accept crappy play and losing all the time. This is a breed of Cub fan that is tired of "waiting till next year" and wants a championship right now. It's about time we voice our displeasure with this organization. I'm not saying Corey should have been booed as much, but Sammy got a REALLY raw deal, and LaTroy..... well, I don't know about that. I think Corey deserved to be booed more than LaTroy because LaTroy didn't have any glaring errors (at least that I saw) that he just refused to fix. Corey did.
  19. I, too, was sad to see Mueller go. The organization may not have thought his knee was ever going to be 100% again after he broke his kneecap in 4 places (that hurts just typing it) sliding into the barrier in St. Louis.
  20. Good teams like the Yankees win 8 of 9 all the time. Win 18 of 20 and then I'll be impressed. Losers. You all suck, and I bet you don't get out of Cincinatti with anything more than a spilt.
  21. I have a feeling he's going to be at least a serviceable player for Cleveland. Maybe not an all-star, but still a valuable player.
  22. Yup. Now if only these guys would stay a winning streak AHEAD, rather than streaking and then slumping. A nice run of oh, say, 16 or 17 out of 20 is just what the doctor ordered, methinks.
