  1. He should just start ejecting random people who slight him in some way.
  2. That has always baffled me, too. If I were an ML GM I'd stay far away from signing any FA who's done nothing until his contract year and then has a huge season. About 8 times out of 10 he's more of the bust than the superstar.
  3. Wasn't a trade on Bradley "close" last week, too? I'm betting this will be another of many false alarms.
  4. I'd be ok with $12 million/year for Sheets only if that's how much he could earn with vesting options like IP or starts. Putz could be a good recclaimation project for the right price. Not tickled pink about Cameron, but I guess he's the best option at this point. The rest I don't want anywhere near this team. So, that means Marlon Byrd, Rick Ankiel, and Scott Podsednik will all be Cubs by Opening Day. I can feel it. edit: Never mind about Putz. Didn't see he was signed.
  5. Is there any word on if his familiarity with the AL West parks and players had anything to do with his decision to sign with Texas?
  6. If we get 2007-08 Meche, yes. If we get 2009 Meche, no thanks.
  7. Awww.... now who's going to cover the Red Sox?
  8. Never figured a guy like Sandberg to be firey. He always seemed pretty laid-back as a player.
  9. Well, at least we wont be following this until Spring Training and have several "confirmed" reports that we traded for him, only for those to be retracted hours later.
  10. Does Jim Hendry have a long-lost brother?
  11. I was wondering why MLB Network was playing The Sandberg Game today. Herzog was the St. Louis manager and Harvey was working Home that day.
  12. Whew. I was worried about that. It's ok that you let Harden walk, but you gotta lock up Little Babe Ruth for as long as you can. That dude is the backbone of this team!
  13. MLB.com is reporting that Dan Uggla is being shopped by Florida. Any chance at all of us landing him?
  14. along with Umpire Doug Harvey. Santo snubbed yet again. Discuss.
  15. I don't know about anyone else, but right now I'm rooting for an Indy/New Orleans Super Bowl, in which both teams come in 18-0. I know it's about as likely as a Cubs World Series victory this year, but tell me that wouldn't be an epic game.
  16. oh my god the irony I know... the fact that you posted in this thread after I said that.... some people just don't learn.
  17. If someone walks into your house and sets your kitchen on fire, then puts it out, are you going to praise them for extinguishing the fire, or are you going to yell at them for setting the fire in the first place? That logic applies here: Hendry made a good move trading Miles and getting some interesting names back in return. However, Miles never should have been here to begin with, especially for that amount of money, so that's what I'm going to focus on.
  18. Not a bad trade, but one that shouldn't have had to have been made in the first place.
  19. I let out a cheer when Andre Dawson beat out an infield hit. Then I changed the channel.
  20. The only problem with this is as of right now, our rotation is Z/Lilly/Dempster/ and 2 of Grabow/Marshall/Wells Do you really want to go to war with that rotation? edit: I meant Gorzellany
  21. Orioles Hangout says that the Cubs have offered Theriot, Fox, and Marshall, and the paperwork is just being finalized.
  22. Yeah, the winter meetings are usually good for a big FA signing or trade. Not necessarily by the Cubs, though.
  23. *dances while juggling fire* Happy?
