  1. After the half a season he had with us in 2008 I wondered why nobody offered him any sort of contract last year. I wouldn't have minded seeing him on the bench.
  2. Of course he wants to be a Cub. Hendry would pay him 3x what he's really worth.
  3. I love fark.com's headline on this.. http://www.fark.com/cgi/comments.pl?IDLink=4974055
  4. I agree. A strong bench can be a very valuable asset, and one that is often overlooked.
  5. If we do sign Bedard, I just hope we're still well in the race by the time he comes back and is effective. Same with Lilly. I just fear our rotation until Lilly comes back, if he's even effective right away. If not, it could be a long April and May.
  6. It's always nice to have some pop off the bench and someone who can fill in at multiple positions on the field. Solid move (for once) by Jim. Is there any way to find out just how many games he has to play in for that option to vest?
  7. Hell, why not see what Shawn Estes is doing these days, too?
  8. Are there 9-game or like 20-game packages available? Id be interested in one of those if I was close to Chicago and had the money and free time.
  9. Maybe it could also be some sort of Cubs museum/HOF/shop complex that's open year-round.
  10. Any time you ask this question about the Cubs organization, the answer is always "yes".
  11. I've wondered that myself. If Sheets is demanding $10 million for one year and Bedard is willing to take less, I'd be more for Bedard myself. I've heard very little to nothing about Bedard this offseason. Who are his potential suitors and what kind of a contract is he looking for?
  12. Ha good luck with that Ben. $6-$7 million with another 3-4 in incentives and a mutual option on a second year sounds about right to me. Sounds to me he wants 10mil guaranteed plus incentives For 2 years I'd sign him right now. If that's per year, which it is, no thanks.
  13. I'm glad. I hope my son and any future grandchildren can enjoy Wrigley the way we all have in our lives.
  14. I will say, though, that just as some constructive input, the credo of "attack the argument, not the poster" doesn't seem to be enforced anywhere near as strictly as it was when I signed up 5 years ago. That being said, this is by far the best Cubs forum on the internet with the most intelligent, loyal, and dedicated posters, and I look forward to being here for many more years.
  15. 50 million, give or take a dozen or so.
  16. Once Harden left our rotation went to hell. It was a good rotation, not a great one, and not very deep. Z can hold his own, but in April then you have Demp as your #2, and while he isn't terrible he's not a #2. After that it's a crapshoot. Lilly's out till May 1st at least, and who knows how long it'll take before he's able to pitch effectively again? Our rotation went from a long-time strength to a really big question mark in a hurry.
  17. I want to taste Brett Favre's tears when he's so close to the Super Bowl and then goes down again in bitter defeat.
  18. This was one of those games where I wish there wasn't a winner. I hate the Vikings, and I still dislike the Cowboys from the early to mid 90's. Go Saints!
  19. You want Z to turn into a white guy? :-k Will he still be able to earn his black guy?
  20. Bradley-free since 2009!
  21. Ooh, that's original. But true.
  22. Not personally, but he has ordered the hits. Anyone heard from Rafael Palmerio lately?
  23. Completely Useless By September
