  1. Everyone knows the Cards will pick him up and he'll win 22 games next year. ;)
  2. I think Matt will benefit the most if Tony starts to rest the starters in Sept. After the callups are with the team, it wouldn't surprise me to see Mulder, Morris and Carp all miss a start or two. I hope...
  3. Just kidding. I think someone like Truffle (who is good with the stats) could break it down more, but he has been in a decline since the break. Last night he looked pretty good thanks to a D Lee homer that was foul. Then he got hit in the hand on a come backer and fell apart a bit.
  4. He sucks.
  5. My heart say Carp. My head says Clemens. until he gets busted for roids in a couple weeks ;)
  6. I have no feelings one way or the other. He seems like a good player. Catchers should be the field leaders of a team, so I have no problem when a catcher stands up to the other team.
  7. CCF, I agree with the other fellas, don't leave. I know there's alot of negativity here these days, but it will subside (I hope). Are you going to the Lincoln Square Oktoberfest Sep 9, 10, & 11? I am planning on it! Of course, and I'd love to hook up and buy you a beer! SIU grads have to stick together!
  8. This is a classic "throw out the records" series. We'll see if the Cubs play for pride. Tony never lets up against the Cubs, so I expect him to play the best lineup he can. I just hope we don't see any bean balls or brawls. ...actually I would like to see Eckstein go Kung Fu on Zambrano! :D I hope it's a great series folks.
  9. Well, I guess I can't dodge the board as long as Vance's team is kicking my butt. So, when is the board going to get together for a Chicago party?
  10. Thanks guys. I just know that if this were my team it would be killing me. Ron Santo even seems to have given up. My Dad won't even talk about them right now. Called him a few nights ago when they were playing, and he was watching Trading Spaces with my Mom instead of the game.
  11. You're a good man Rocket! Never stop disbelieving.
  12. Guys and Gals here at NSBB. I want you to know how much I enjoy the forum and what amazing fans you are. I really like a lot of the people here! That's why I'm going to take a little break from posting. The Cubs are not playing the best baseball in the world as you know, and I don't want to pile on. You folks deserve better than this. I'll drop back in from time to time, but I didn't want you to think I didn't like posting here anymore. To Vance, Truffle and the rest of the fantasy league: I'm still gonna kick all your ___es! :D
  13. Don't like good fundamental baseball? ;) You never know, it could always end up Atlanta and Oakland, but I think the Cards and Angels are the 2 best teams in baseball, and will meet in the Series.
  14. I agree with every one of your picks except the D-Backs. I can honestly say I have never seen a more pathetic division contender. Worse that the Royals 3 years ago. WAY worse. I've seen them live about 10 times this year and they are not a playoff team. San Diego can't possibly lose this division. Oh, they can, and I think that Arizona will end up being the tallest midget.
  15. Uh... no :) My pick for the playoffs btw. Boston Chicago LAA Angels Oakland Atlanta St. Louis Arizona Houston Boston Angels St. Louis Houston Angels St. Louis St. Louis
  16. I asked my Dad the same question. His reply... GO BEARS!
  17. Todd Walker will not be a Cub next year if Dusty is still here.
  18. You kicked my butt so hard my dog felt it. Jim Edmonds was a beast last week...
  19. You guys are starting to sound like Sox fans...
  20. Yes, it can happen. If Carpenter and Pujols go down with injuries the Stros could catch them. If Rolen, Sanders and Molina come back and there are no further injuries, there is no way the Cards don't win the Central. I also think that they still have a deal to make during waiver trades. As stated in previous posts, the Cubs need to hope that the Astros fade. And start fading soon.
  21. Congrats to one of the players I will tell my children "I saw that guy play". He was the Cubs to me when I was growing up. In the 80s I remember the Cards and Cub fans arguing about who was better, Ozzie or Ryno. Both class players and both deserving of the HOF. I hope we can have the same kind of talk 15 years from now about Pujols and Lee. Have a great one folks, and enjoy your day at the Hall!
  22. Admit it, you're a fan ;) Looks like you're gonna kick my butt this week. Halladay being on the DL is hurting me. blah blah blah excuses excuses.
  23. Your team is like the Cardinals... overachieving a lot, but in the end they will lose :P Just like the Cards, I'm taking a little break and letting the other teams catch up a bit... ;)
  24. Not looking good for the Tarps. Down 10-0.
