  1. Where's the motorized tarp when you need it?? My screen name at CardsTalk and my fantasy team name is ManEatingTarp :D You don't post very often anymore do you? maybe once or twice a day. I really like the folks over here. :ughug:

  3. I have built a shrine to you in my bedroom closet. a moment of silence.... now back to the game. :D
  4. Chicago Cubs roving base running coach!!! (That's whyhe was there right) :o Probably a little of both. This weekend has been: Forsch for 31 McCarver 30 Coleman 29 The folks I went to the games with this weekend all think Ozzie pulls down 1
  5. Every crowd does... Don't these people know you're supposed to watch the outfielders on flyballs?
  6. i do Ok, that's understandable but they should be a little more balanced with this broadcast considering its nationally televised. I know, but a new stadium is a big deal. I think the non Cub/Cards fans would want to see the new park. Of course the internet is a better place to see it if you're that interested. As long as I get to see every pitch i don't care. It's not like I even listen to these jokers anyway. We hate Miller and Morgan as much as you folks.
  7. I really wish I could have met you and Gracie's Girl, Dal, Snood and the rest of the board members this weekend. I was the social planner for my whole group, and they kept me pretty busy to say the least. Great atmosphere around town. All the Cub fans I saw represented themselves and thier team well. Let's hope the series in 2 weeks is as fun as this one has been.
  8. Wow! What a weekend. I'm sitting in the lobby of my hotel where I found a wireless connection. It's 12:30 at night, and I've been drinking beer and massive amounts of water all day. 2 fantastic games in a row, and the Cards and Cub fans have been having a great time. I brought 11 Cub fans from Chicago with me and we've been having the time of our lives. The best rivalry in baseball lives on. Chat with you all more tomorrow when I get back in town.
  9. I understand the frustration, but what do you really think you could get for Wood right now. I can see them moving him to the pitching starved Rangers for a player like Mench (who I like A LOT!). If they did that, they would probably still have to pick up a ton of his contract. No team is looking to get a 10 mil a year injury prone starter. Every reason you would like to get rid of him is why he will be hard to move. Potential can only get you so far. (are you listening corey patterson?)
  10. Totally agree. The timing of injuries is huge. The Cubs have been frontloaded 2 years in a row with injuries that have forced them into slow starts. The Cards were very healthy for 5 months last year, and that momentum carried them to the Series were they got killed. I think what you're seeing now is the Cards playing through some injuries, but they will need to be healthy in the playoffs to make a serious run. The Cubs are pretty much healed up with the exception of Nomar. I hope all this makes for a great series this weekend.
  11. A relatively minor injury. Let us know when Carp, Morris, Mulder or Pujols goes down. :P You're right. The Cards are a good enough team to lose 3 or 4 guys for a while and still win the division.
  12. This must be wrong. The Cardinals don't get injuries.
  13.  Wow, lets hope he pitches against the Cubs at Wrigley then. A 1:20 start could be just what we need to rough him up. Assuming a normal rotation and no tweaks on off days, Mulder will miss the Cubs in the 1st 2 series (Jul/Aug), have a night start at home on Sep 6 and a 1:20 start at Wrigley on Sep 16. By my calculations,, that will be the day we pass STL for first in the Central. Snood. You need to change the sig to have the Creature in an Indians hat. And was that Sept. 16th 2012 you were talking about? :D
  14. Albert Pujols? I haven't been able to make the trip down to St. Louis for a few years now. It kills me everytime too because something always comes up. I have the most important job interview of my life early monday morning (then again, I'm only 23, so every job interview is the most important of my life), so I decided it'd be wise not to head down for the series. I'll keep an eye out for everyone here though. You'll have to make signs that have your NSBB name on them though, cause I don't know what any of you look like. Best of luck on the interview!!!
  15. I'm taking a group of 12 down from here in Chicago. For most of em it's the first trip to Busch. I'll be at Friday and Sat's games. I'll be the guy in the StL hat if you're looking for me. I also will probably have red on.
  16. I agree that it's sad that Lee isn't getting more appreciation for the amazing season he's having, but don't forget that Pujols is contending for the triple crown too. BA: 1) Lee .373 2) Pujols .339 HR: 1) Lee 30 4) Pujols 24 RBI: 2) Lee 75 3) Pujols 73 well, i wouldn't say pujols is contending for the triple crown. 34 points of batting average is a lot to make up - i know the actual stats have been posted a few times, but i think lee would have to go into something like an 0 for 45 slump while pujols continued hitting at his current average to catch up to him. i will not argue that pujols will challenge lee for the home run lead (and both lees for the rbi total), but i think average is pretty much out of reach. i could certainly be wrong, but i don't think pujols has more than a tiny chance at the batting title. If Pujols ends up with 2 of the 3 categories, does that give him an edge in the MVP? What is an MVP? Does it go to the best player on the best team? Does it go to the player that throws a team on his back and keeps them in a race? Should Barry Bonds win it this year because he's shown how valuable he is through his absence? I really don't care, because the only hardware I'm interested in is the World Series trophey...
  17. Will this be known as the "Curse of the Cowbell"? Because I got a fever...
  18. I was waiting for someone to mention that. I would say Zambrano belongs in here, but I thought this year was going to be his breakout year. After watching him last year, I must admit, I had him penciled in for 20 wins this year. While it's technically still possible, it's just not going to happen. If I were to add one more guy to this list, it'd probably be Mark Beurhle or Mark Mulder. I really don't like Beurhle, but his numbers don't lie, and I think he has a great future ahead of him... if he stops accusing hall of fame pitchers of cheating that is. Mulder, when healthy, is one of the best pitchers in the game. He hasn't had the year that was expected of him this year, but don't be surprised if he puts up a late charge in the second half. I hope so regarding Mulder. He has shown flashes, but "streaky" is his middle name, and that's not what I look for in an "Ace". Beurhle is fantastic. I think of him as the best #2 pitcher in baseball. Prior to this year I would put Carpenter in that mold, but he has shown "Ace" stuff this year. Now we have to see if he can do it in October. I really like the new crop of young pitchers coming into the league. The next 10 years are going to be fun watching these guys return balance to the force :)
  19. The Powder Blues of the 80s are truly hideous. I wear mine every chance I get ;) Here are my favorite: Carinals (I think it's the best uniform in all of sports) Dodgers Braves Cubs All classic. A lot of people will say that of the Yankees, but I'm not a fan.
  20. I think we can all agree that they are all amazing young pitchers. Zambrano could be in that category with a true breakout year. I think he puts it all together next season and becomes dominant. The Prior or Carenter debate would mirror a Pujols or Lee debate. Outstanding seasons by very good players or the future of what should be HOF careers... ...There, I said it. I know someone was waiting for the Cards fans to bring it up;)
  21. Hey folks. I just wanted to chime in and say what a nice pickup I think this is for the Cubs! I think you just got a heck of a player. I was really hoping that Walt would steal him from the Indians.
  22. really? the only one of those three i even consider over prior is santana, and i doubt i'd take him, either. I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. When Prior is healthy, he is amazing. As we all know, that hasn't been very often. Everyone talks about Santana, but Jake Peavy is a STUD! I haven't seen Harden pitch enough.
