  2. Donnie, I read in your MiLB.com journal that you felt you were doing better because you had started getting ahead of hitters again and letting them get themselves out. What changes did you have to make to start getting ahead of hitters? I've read that you aren't a fan of the nickname "D-Train." Here at NSBB, we've come up with the nickname "The Don." Have you heard that one before and do you like it? Do you have any other nicknames? Thanks for taking the time to answer our questions! We all hope to see you at Wrigley very soon.

  4. I remember when Brian Giles was always mentioned as an underrated player. Funny how he's considered overrated now.
  5. Cubs should trade Izturis for Dr. Toilet.
  6. MARINE LAYER You're learning. The marine layer is making everything die. The wind is actually blowing out but it's less than 5 mph. You're a nerd.
  7. talkin' bout friends forever.....we'll be friends, we'll be friends..... This video is hilarious. Now back to the game...
  8. That's Lastings Milledge, for those of you who aren't in the know. Apparently the Mets aren't too happy about some lyrics and content of a song he was featured in. Here's a blurb about it. A quick YouTube search netted me this tidbit of lyrical ingenuity. Not sure if it's Milledge or the other guy because the lighting's bad, but it's quality. (Warning: explicit content, not appropriate for work)
  9. I have seen Z throw with his left hand before. A few years ago when I went to ATL to see the Cubs, we were there during BP. Z was in the outfield shagging fly balls and both my brother and I noted that he was throwing left handed. We mentioned how natural and hard he threw with his left hand. I've never seen him actually pitching left handed before, but I've seen him tossing a ball around lefty.
  10. Wade Miller needs to stop stealing THE DON's mound time. Take that weak ish to Iowa.

  12. Base running is the most important aspect of the game.
  13. wtg Antone How did he look aside from that misadventure? He was a high school teammate of mine. Can I ask why in the hell would an outfield wall be made of metal? That seems really really stupid. It's not made of solid steel or anything. When a ball (or person) hits it, it sounds like an aluminum shed. I thought it was odd as well, but we've seen stranger (a wall made of brick?).
  14. wtg Antone How did he look aside from that misadventure? He was a high school teammate of mine. He had 3 hits. I got a video of the first AB of the game (maybe first pitch?), in which he got a HBP. Later in the game he had an amusing AB in which he fouled off at least 5 pitches in a row to the same two sections. By the 5th foul the people in those sections were yelling at him. Seems like one of those guys that is very frustrating if you're the other team.
  15. I went to Columbia on Saturday to watch the Gamecocks play Kentucky. Had a fun time. I have pics and took some video, but I'll have to post some at a later date. A few noteworthy things: -While Kentucky was taking their BP, I believe it was DeJesus (they didn't have jerseys on, but it looked like it was him) was in CF shagging fly balls. The guy taking BP hits a long fly to the wall in CF. The outfield wall in Columbia is made of metal and if a ball hits it, it makes this loud, terrible sound. DeJesus tries to make this great play at the wall and ends up SLAMMING into the wall, making the loudest noise. When he runs into the wall he immediately falls down on the ground. Needless to say, the wall won. He was okay, I just wish I'd gotten it on my camera. -I saw a SC player get hit in the helmet/face with a pitched ball. He had a gash right by his eye and had to leave the game. I have pics of that which I'll post. -I ended up sitting right next to one of the USC quarterbacks. -It started raining rather hard in the last few innings, so we left early. Gamecocks lost the game. :(
  16. So I was watching the White Sox-Tigers game tonight on ESPN, and Erstad was batting. The announcers said that Ozzie Guillen had been talking to them earlier and was raving about Erstad. They went on to talk about how he's won a Gold Glove at CF, LF, and 1st base, and how he plays such good defense. They then said that Guillen had said, "He may be hitting .222, but it's like he's hitting .390 because of the timing of his hits." ....
  17. The GT-UGA game will be on Sports South for those of you in the region that are interested in seeing Wieters play. The game is Tuesday at 7 PM from Turner Field.
  18. Holy crap... Bridgewater State sets records in 57-1 victory Here's the hilarious box score for the game. And the PBP of an eventful 4th inning:
  19. Snazzy pics. You must have a good camera.
  20. The South Carolina-FL game is on ESPN for anyone interested. SC is down 3-1 in the 5th...
