  1. He puts together great at-bats. Super-impressed by his plate discipline.
  2. Again, more than ready to hear Simmons has been DFA'd.
  3. More than ready to hear Simmons has been DFA'd.
  4. Third in MLB in runs scored the first four innings. Tied for last place with the Blue Jays for runs scored in the last three innings. They score, then they stop.
  5. Unfortunately, I don't have this option. Who are these guys? They're brutal.
  6. The swing... the bat flip... the celebration rounding the bases... loved every moment almost as much as Morel did. Awesome!
  7. Sutcliffe is annoying, but I can take him in small doses. If it's just the San Diego series and then JD comes back, I can live with that. He's a homer and a meatball. What's not to love? #-o
  8. Marquee's cameras caught the moment when Ross went up to shake Roberts' hand to let him know he was going to head to Chicago with the big club. Naturally, he got a little emotional. Pretty cool.
  9. All the upsets, all the "madness", it's still; Duke Villanova Kansas North Carolina Four teams familiar with Final Four appearances. And unfortunately, an insufferable week of "Coach K" idiocy. :barf:
  10. c'mon that was grandfathered in, their total spend in the 10-11 offseason was less than $28M I don't see how that matters. If it does then the argument is the Ricketts were intentionally wanting the team to lose by supplying it with a Top 5 payroll and not firing the GM who had averaged 84 wins/season prior to them(including 97 the year before they bought the team) and won 83 in their first year. It makes the definition of 'tanking' so broad as to be meaningless. I think there's confusion between "tanking" and "we don't know what the hell we're doing." As opposed to right now: "What's the least we can do on the field to make the most money we possibly can?"
  11. Why not? Where to start... -What happens on a foul ball? -More tosses to first to reset the clock to plan strategies -Umps now have to decide who's at fault for the pitch clock running out (lots of batters take their time too) -14 seconds seems incredibly short -other ways to speed the game up (eliminate warm-up pitches for incoming relievers comes to mind immediately, somehow speed up time between batters) For now, just get a new CBA. Quit horsefeathering around with meaningless horsefeathers that right now is just horsefeathering with the player's minds. ETA... I'm not totally opposed to some sort of pitch clock. But right now? No. First things first... let's get players back on the field. I don't think this is the way to do it.
  12. What the what?!? https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/33438241/sources-mlb-eyes-pitch-clocks-14-seconds-empty-bases-19-seconds-runners-on Nope.
  13. I think it's projection. They have no remaining fantasies that they can be a professional baseball player, but most idiots still think they can get rich. It's their last remaining ambition/dream. Hate the people that grouse, "They're getting paid millions to play a game I'd play for peanuts!" Except no, you wouldn't. Not when you know how much owners are raking in because of your effort. Not when you didn't even make peanuts working your way up through the minors. Not when you have such a narrow window to make good money. Not when owners mess around with you to manipulate your service time. horsefeathers the owners.
  14. Yeah I was very worried about losing JD. This is incredible news. People are speculating on twitter that customer feedback may have saved him. Don't know how true it is but it does seem like Cubs fans appreciate him a lot more than people at Marquee. If that's the case... consider it a victory for common sense. Surprising when you think about who owns the team.
  15. No charges will be filed against Bauer... https://www.nbcnews.com/news/sports/trevor-bauer-wont-charged-sexual-assault-investigation-rcna15425 Still a POS.
  16. LSU fans being LSU fans, already trying to talk trash about how “cool” this is. Nothing says “old white guy” quite like someone who doesn’t know what to do, so he does some semblance of the Bat Dance. FTR… I’m an old white guy. I oughta know.
  17. So who picked up Eberflus from the airport tonight? https://victoryautowreckers.com/ All the hearts! Well done!
  18. Love them frigid Packer tears! \:D/ Another playoff failure in front of the home crowd. LOVE IT!!!
  19. What does it really matter, either way? Does McCaskey making the hire on his own make you feel any better than Phillips? We just have to hope they manage to get it right, even if it's accidentally. Yes, because it means the next GM probably reports directly to George and not to Ted. I think that opens up more possibilities of people being interested, or at least not being scared away by the reporting structure. The Bears need a football guy running the football operations. Phillips is not a football guy. He's a business man who just so happens to work for a football team. I don't want his bias making decisions that have a huge impact on the field. It hasn't worked for almost 25 years... so it probably won't work now.
  20. Glad they’re both gone, but confidence is not high that the Bears will get this right. I want to hear McCaskey say that Ted Phillips will have no say in the hiring process.
  21. Fangio is officially a free agent. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/after-third-straight-losing-season-broncos-fire-coach-vic-fangio-151828169.html
  22. Why hasn't Nagy been fired yet? What's taking so long!?!
