  1. well, it was a nice season, derrek, but there goes any chance you had at the mvp.
  2. if dusty baker is given a contract extension, i will seriously consider doing the same thing.
  3. if you're trading for the duke, why isn't he in the pen?
  4. nomar wouldn't play 2nd for the dodgers this year. i highly doubt he'll move to left. ramirez in left would be horrendous - that would be really bad for his recurring leg injuries.
  5. the talent level on a team does not matter when you have people as inept as the devil rays or reds do in their front offices.
  6. Show me the stats that make Clemens more deserving than RJ? He was clearly not the best pitcher based on stats other than wins. Now Clemens is on the other side of the argument and you think he deserves the award again. Come on there has to be a little common sense used here. And no I am not looking up or referring to your or anyone's post from a year ago. Roger's stats last year: 18-4 ERA 2.98 K's 218 214 innings 1.16 whip RJ's stats last year: 16-14 ERA 2.60 K's 290 245 innings .90 whip Exactly, Jesus Christ. We all said that RJ was deserving last year, and this year we're saying that Roger is deserving, based on the same criteria. but this year a cardinal is in the running!!!!! so the criteria have to be moved to fit his strengths, duh!
  7. i didn't even read your post after this, and i don't plan to. how hard is it to get the name right? ITB, I am sorry I hope you forgive me. LOLZ TROLLING IS FUNNY. i expected nothing less from a cardinal troll like yourself. you give the good card fans on here a bad name. at least they can read.... :)
  8. well that is certainly cool.
  9. this is a joke, right? these are two of the most poorly-run teams in baseball.
  10. not even close. pavano is a below average pitcher who had a good year and was rewarded handsomely for it. burnett has more talent in his left foot than pavano has in his whole body.
  11. i didn't even read your post after this, and i don't plan to. how hard is it to get the name right?
  12. i think you're confusing "wins" with "name recognition" and "reputation." last year has nothing to do with this year's cy young.
  13. agree. spend the money elsewhere or save it for 07.
  14. not at all. he's a cheater and a headhunter. i want him nowhere near this team.
  15. walker's going to "miss a good number of games," eh? yeah, he's so injury prone and all.
  16. guess what "certain manager" will be back to use neifi in the problematic way? if neifi is signed as a backup next year, he'll still get 2-3 starts a week under dusty.
  17. but he's carried his team and hits lots of home runs!!! and they're CLUTCH!
  18. It's Wikipedia's definition. Can you find another on that doesn't mention the Cy Young being an award for the best pitcher in the league? What do you think the award is for? The most productive pitcher, maybe? The most valuable pitcher, maybe? The pitcher who has helped his team the most? Couldn't find a different definition, huh? Didn't look until just now. I haven't dug too deep, but I did find this little tidbit: Did you know... The record for the most major league baseball career innings is held by Cy Young, with 7,356 innings. Seems to me that in the spirit of the award, innings pitched would be extremely important. He pitched for 22 years and won 511 games which is still a record today. He holds the major league record for complete games with 751. He is fourth on the all time list for shutouts with 76. He led the league in shutouts seven times. He led the league in wins four times. Sounds alot like an award that's custom-made for a guy like Chris Carpenter. I didn't find anything about him that's related to ERA. oh man i have not laughed out loud at a post in a while, but geez, man. this post made my day. i needed a laugh. thanks.
  19. wow, that is depressing.
  20. peavy barely qualified for the ERA title, which explains why he wasn't in the voting. an ERA as low as clemens' in this era is unheard of since maddux and certainly makes him deserving of the cy young, considering his peripherals.
  21. seconded. i can't stand clemens, but he has undoubtedly been the best pitcher in baseball this year.
