  1. that argument is void. macias and neifi hit 1-2 yesterday. neifi started today. you can't argue that that isn't the same as having injuries, heh.
  2. Quote of the Day: "2 out and nobody on for Derrek Lee"
  3. if you're basing how good a GM is only on trades, your boy doesn't exactly have an advantage. ::shrugs:: Matter of opinion. Jocketty has made some excellent trades, I think. If it's a matter of opinion, why did you state it as fact?
  4. Dusty still won't let the kids play. Macias and Holly will get his total attention. don't forget calvin murray
  5. if you're basing how good a GM is only on trades, your boy doesn't exactly have an advantage.
  6. wooooo neifi and macias!!!!!!!!
  7. Because of Barrett's defense, or lack thereof. Also, Blanco has come on strong lately with the bat. Barrett's OPS is over .800, which is 4th among starting catchers in MLB. He should be starting, period. Just like Macias "should be starting [in CF], period" because he's hitting .290 or over? sorry dude, but OPS is just a *little* more important than batting average.
  8. Sorry, but I can't overlook this. Hollandsworth is NOT a good defender. He is below average defensively. The "good defender" excuse was made up by Dusty to justify him giving so much PT to Hollandsworth. BP says 3 runs below average, or a 95 rate. Just about the same as Dubois. Correct.

  10. This year, Manny has 12 assist and 1 error. Burnitz has 5 assist and 4 errors by way of comparison. I'm not saying Manny is a great fielder, but he's not as awful as the general perception. In any event, Manny will not be placed on waivers again. Boston did that 2 offseasons ago in order to try to clear some space for an ARod deal. the assists are there since everyone runs on him because he's a terrible fielder. it's worth the gamble, usually, but everyone's going to get caught sometimes.
  11. Cubs are 3 starters short. Wood sucks. Maddux is done, unfortunately. And I don't feel confident with Williams/Rusch/Hill. yeah wood sure sucks, boy oh boy i sure would hate to have a healthy kerry wood in my rotation, give me shawn estes! now don't give me some crap about how "oh but he can't stay healthy" - if you meant that, you would have said that wood can't stay healthy - not that he sucks.
  12. Sorry, but he's not "telling the truth." Z has a history of doing immature things that hurt the team. If he did quit on the team today than that qualifies as another. Don't see any other way around it. Yeah, a history that includes NOTHING FROM 2005. NOTHING. His ejection on Opening Day was after he was taken out of the game. Zambrano has done NOTHING this year to hurt this team. First of all, pardon me if I am not overly impressed by going almost going a whole season without doing anything. However, I thought I remembered him throwing at someone earlier this year and being lucky not to get a suspension. If it turns out that he did not quit then I retract the comment. But from what I have seen it does not look good. He said Zambrano is a baby, but he's shown this season that he's not. He's matured greatly from how he used to be - what the card fan said was completely biased by the fact that he's a cardinal fan who obviously hates Zambrano. I don't recall him throwing at anyone earlier this year. The only suspension he avoided was after Opening Day.
  13. wow, just as i was going to post this, you already did. thanks.

  16. I don't hate Z. He's just a baby IMO. You're right in that he has been better this year. obviously you do, because you're bringing up stuff that's way in the past. how is he a baby? what has he done this year to warrant being called that, aside from the umpire incident in arizona?
  17. Not to be cliche, but Z needs to play for the name on the front of the jersey and the guys behind him. So what if he doesn't like Dusty. This is just another in the long line of immature moves by Carlos. another in the long line? what has he done this year since opening day that was "immature?" nothing. this is just showing your hate for zambrano because you're a card fan. at least it seems that way to me.

    Amazin' A's

i've been watching them instead of the cubs since this macias fiasco started.
  19. i think i'm to the point where i want to see lee play well enough to win the mvp and nomar to play well enough to prove he's healthy enough to bring back for a tiny contract next season, but for the team to do whatever it takes to get dusty fired. as i've said before, i've been optimistic that we have a shot at the wild card until recently, but as long as dusty is making his best effort to make sure neifi is still a starter with nomar back in addition to starting macias for 4 games in a row, this team does not have a chance.
  20. Doug Mientkiewicz > Todd Helton>Derrek Lee>>pretty much the rest of the NL first basemen, including Pujols. I do agree though that Pujols is underrated as a first basemen by the guy who said he is slightly above average. He's good man. He's not as good as Lee and Helton because he's not as quick, but he is just as good at making the plays he can get to. He also is fantastic making the stretch and scoop. He's definitely getting better. mientkiewicz is not nearly as good as helton or lee.
  21. this is what i would have said.
  22. hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
