Just in time to intercept about 6 of Jordan Webb's pass attempts in the season opener. I still can't fathom that Webb is the starting quarterback for a major conference team. If you mean at this point in his career, I agree. If you mean, ever...I think it's kind of a silly POV. He was a 3 star recruit, and he's not wholly untalented. He was the #28 pro-style QB in his class, ahead of QBs taken by Stanford, Fla St., and a few other ACC schools. But he's not the kind of guy who should be starting as a RS sophomore. He's the kind of guy who should be able to step in 3, 4 years in the program, after he's developed physically. Unfortunately, he's the best we've got at this stage. He has allegedly improved his strength and arm. If the O-Line is healthy, he could be the kind of QB who makes just enough plays. We have enough talent at RB (Bourbon, Miller, Pierson) that he won't be expected to shoulder the load. If he doesn't make enough plays, we have talent coming in behind him, and I expect him to slide down the depth chart next year. Is Bergland sitting out this year because of the assault charges? Yes. Or least, allegedly that's what's going on. He's RS this year and can't practice with the team because his legal issues keep dragging him back to CO.
