  1. dbl post
  2. i said what i wanted to say. if this is your response then there's no point in discussing anything with you any more. it's a legit response. You are excusing a rich child rape enabler by saying he donated money. "Listen, I said what I wanted to say. Now I'm going to stick my fingers back in my ears and pretend nothing bad happened."
  3. (a) he didn't report it to the AD and the president. he reported it verbally to the AD, who along with another administrator interviewed the grad assistant (mcqueary). they subsequently spoke to the president. (b) paterno has said that he didn't know the exact nature of the sexual abuse, which seems logical to me - when you're talking to a conservative old man/coaching icon, do you tell him that you saw inappropriate sexual contact between sandusky and a minor, or do you tell him that you saw sandusky anally penetrating a young boy? i suspect it is the former, which is what paterno testified to in front of the grand jury. neither mcqueary nor curley has claimed that paterno knew more than what he let on. what kyle said above (about downgrading the seriousness of the allegations) is just making [expletive] up that is based on nothing whatsoever. so you're telling me this guy went to to JoePa and said, "I saw your friend have inappropriate sexual contact with a young boy," and that was the extent of the description? Joe didn't say, "what do you mean inappropriate sexual contact?" He didn't dig deeper for details? He didn't ask questions about what the guy saw specifically, hoping it was a misunderstanding? He just said, "Cool, thanks, I'll talk to someone"? That's what you believe? You believe Joe had no idea what happened, even after it was reported?
  4. truffle looks like a total buffoon in this thread. His position is morally indefensible.
  5. baylor will put up at least 700 yards of offense on us.
  6. paul rudd? Close. Don Johnson.
  7. I can't see any scenario where he is staying after watching last nights game. Yesterday was the shot of confidence I needed going into 2012. Defense seemed to finally full grasp Manny Diaz's defense and played a complete game. Gill seemed very in over his head. i wouldn't take too much from that game if i were you.
  8. Very connected insider saying Gill is done after the season. Please let it be true.
  9. Out of curiosity, why?
  10. If they fire TG, who would KU fans like to see the Hawks go after? Honestly, I don't even know who I'd want. I just want Gill gone. The names I see most often bandied about are: Leach Leavitt Venables •I don't see Leach taking it (or KU offering, considering Mangino got canned for player abuse.) •Same deal for Leavitt, and his crimes were more legit than Leach's, who got railroaded by James/ESPN. However, he and Zenger are friends, so I suppose it's possible. •I hear Venables tossed out a lot, but why would he leave OU to come to this disaster? He could wait and get a better gig. After that, you get names like Dave Doeren, who hasn't been impressive in year one at NIU. Jerry Kill would have been an option, but I don't know if he'd leave after one year at MINN, and his health is a real concern. Nolan Cromwell gets mentioned since he's an alum. Phil Fulmer lobbied for it last time. (He lobbied for every open job, though.) I can't say I'd be super jazzed about him. Then there are the usual up and coming assistants, most of whom would be better served waiting for something better. ETA: June Jones gets brought up by fans, but I believe he turned down a BCS gig last year. Larry Fedora is another name I read a lot. Whoever gets it will get a team with enough talent to win 5-6 games. But in general, i think we're effed.
  11. wtf. for the love of God, please let this season end and TG be fired.
  12. I'm not surprised about 2 of them. The Canadian kid was a bit of a shock, but he probably isn't good enough to play at KU anyway. this will be a pretty tough year for KU hoops. Not a lot of depth. By tough year do you mean 25+ wins and a No. 3 seed in the tournament? I know they didn't bring in a superstar class, but they'll lose maybe four games in the non-conference portion and the only Big 12 game I think they'll lose is at aTm. Don't they play Baylor twice? A three seed is probably best case scenario this year. And there's no way we only lose one Big 12 game.
  13. Most importantly, they're joining next year. My guess is the Mizzou/SEC announcement comes before Deaton goes to India on Tuesday. Out of curiosity, you were really pissed at aTm for leaving and thought it was a BS move. Are you backpedalling on that, or do you see MU leaving as more justifiable?
  14. some of the ways your AD has handled it have resulted in bad PR imo. That's all I'm saying. Not that your PR campaign was bad. I have no idea what your school is doing on a the PR front.
  15. Remember, we're talking about PR. In many of the cases I listed, Missouri didn't necessarily do anything wrong. They've just said the wrong thing (wish them well/haven't decided to leave) or not said enough (the back door sneak out. A meaningless no comment statement looks better than "dodging" the media.) I've got no real beef with Missouri exploring other options. They should. I think how they've handled it has made them easy targets for negative press.
  16. yeah this has been very odd. out of all the schools, the hatred from ksu has been astounding. i think a big portion is the guy kevin keitzman from kc radio. the mizzou boards have been quoting him non-stop on his propoganda against mizzou. kstate fans, much more than anyone, are taking this personally. its very odd. Keitzman is like KSU Jesus. Anything he says, they'll latch on to. From a PR position, though, MU hasn't handled this thing very well. In what way? Stuff that leaps to mind: 1. Deaton being the chair of the Big 12 while not being the committed to the conference just looks bad. 2. On the day the Big 12 was "saved," Deaton (The chair of the Big 12) was suddenly very wishy-washy in the resulting press conference as to his school's commitment to the conference. 3. After a BoC meeting regarding conf. realignment, the BoC snuck out the back door instead of addressing the assembled press. 4. A Mizzou wonk said, off-the-record, they preferred the B1G, but the SEC is what's left. 5. Missouri has continued to waffle, which is somewhat understandable considering the legal implications and the fact they have to wait for SEC votes, but it has seemed like they're stringing the Big 12 along, who can't move on replacing them until they know if they have to replace them. 6. Missouri trying to pin the hit KC economy will take if they leave on KU. 7. Mizzou saying "they wish the Big 12 well" while also saying they have not yet made a decision on whether to leave.

  18. that conference doesn't look much different from the one KU will actually end up in.
  19. I agree, but it was a ridiculous overreaction. We could have easily used one of our 3 remaining timeouts to stop the clock and there was 1:20 still remaining in the first half. But for the record, I enjoyed watching it. Doesn't matter. Just make the right call. Who cares if it wasn't going to impact the game. In the KU/KSU game, their player signalled for a fair catch, caught it, then sprinted five yards with it before he remembered he signalled for the fair catch. That's a penalty. Granted, we were well on our way to getting cornholed already, but it's still a penalty. Call it.
  20. boo hoo. This week will be the first time we've played a team who wasn't coming into the game undefeated. And we're terrible to begin with. At least you guys will beat us. maybe if your first, second, and third team players all get debilitating food poisoning. You'll run circles around us, just like everyone else.
  21. boo hoo. This week will be the first time we've played a team who wasn't coming into the game undefeated. And we're terrible to begin with.
  22. KU is actually kind of fun to watch just to see the new ways they can come up with to look terrible. I liked the play where our RB pitched the ball forward to KSU's Dlineman when we were pinned back inside the 10. ETA: we've given up 17 points in 1:08 of game clock.
  23. Agreed. Don't confuse the hand wringing for disgust. I think a lot of people are enjoying this thread. actually, i think he's being obtuse and douchey. jmo.
