If the batter isn't in control of the at bat, he isn't that good. The pitcher loses control the moment the ball is released. The hitter is the one that determines what happens next. All a pitcher can do is try to keep the hitter off balance, put the ball in a tough place to hit and hope. I'm inclined to agree with UK here.

I hate Edmonds and the cards, but I think the ump needs to have a bit more leeway in the postseason. I think LaRussa pushed it far enough, but Eyeliner shouldn't have been run. -
Calls being the key word. Again....the ball was rolled BEFORE the ump put his hand up. But Escobar (and the rest of the infield) stayed in position until the phantom out call was made. If he hadn't made that call, Escobar could've just picked up the ball and thrown him out. I've always liked Castillo. the beauty of him is that Dusty couldn't misuse him. he's a fast guy, so Dusty would love him at the top. The fact he actually gets on base is gravy for the rest of us. I really hope, if he's available, the Cubs explore a trade for him.

Why, just because he's "young?" That and it's Texas. They never have adequate pitching. Give Hendry Theo's money and the Cubs would be playing tomorrow. beginning the season with Holly as a starting LF is the kind of thing that derailed us, not a small budget. A good GM doesn't need 150 mil to assemble a division championship team.

I think I'd actually prefer Hawk and Wimpy. At least they provide precious stretches of dead silence. Luckily, North is a longshot for the job. The Worst idea Ever PS--Sorry if this was already discussed. I looked and didn't see anything.

I'd like to see them pick up Williamson's option. I hope they can improve the OF via the trade, because the FA don't do much for me.

I thought it was when they interviewed a charectar from a beer commercial (while he was still in charectar) during the World Series. ConstableRabbit don't remember dat. It was Leon from the Bud commercials. I agree with Nomar at a reduced rate, but I'm doubtful we'll get him for that. Surely there are other teams willing to roll the dice on him, right? If we DO sign him, then I'm not sure if I want Walker back. I know he's a great hitter and all, but watching him and Nomar try to turn two is painful. On the other hand, letting Walker go hurts our already struggling offense. Still, I'm inclined to let Cedeno start at 2B and hope we can fill our offensive needs by completely restructuring the OF.
