So one game in and Strong has been determined to be a terrible coach? Also, as someone who loved Petrino when he was at Arkansas, just no. Lost in the [expletive] show of the motorcycle wreck was that Petrino was a terrible recruiter (see the last 2 years of Hog football) and that he had no desire to put any focus on his defense. Pass. If UT runs Strong off, can KU have him?

Missed the game, but was getting a ton of texts in the first half about how impressive Cozart and the team looked in general. Not so much in the second half. Is there any hope for a few more wins based on what you saw? It depends on which was the real KU, the first quarter or the fourth quarter. Cozart looked very sharp out of the gate. Ran the option well. Threw well on the move. Even completed a corner route in the end zone, which we haven't seen KU do for three years. The WRs looked fantastic--got open, blocked downfield, caught the ball. The RBs looked good, too. We almost had two guys over 100 each. However, once SEMO took away the edge and made us start throwing longer passes, the offense stalled. I don't think we did much to adjust to their adjustments. I'm hoping it's because Reagan wanted to save the playbook for duke. Other observations: The O line looked meh. The D Line looked worse. The defense was good through 3 quarters. Looked terrible in the 4th. Boateng (the FR DB) got picked on. He has to get better fast. The ST looked suspect, too. Still don't have a reliable place kicker. We played lots of true freshman, so hopefully they'll get better. I think we'll really know what we need to know after the Duke game. But if I had to guess on a win total right now based on last night...4 max. Baylor and OU are going to kill us. WVU and OSU likely will be too good for us, too. Texas might be vulnerable just due to injury and suspensions, but I think their D Line will destroy our O Line. TCU/ISU/Texas Tech/CMU are games we have a shot at. KSU...probably not, but I won't concede it until I've seen more of both teams. Also, KSU is one Waters injury away from being in trouble. No idea on Duke. I don;t think they're really that good, but man, who are we to talk?

They're terrible Is it conceivable that they're worse than KU? I never knew it before but I really want to see Purdue face KU now. Wow, looking at their record last year and their game one results this year, they are bad. And most likely more than a little bit worse than us. Doesn't mean we'll beat CMU, either, but I had no idea how bad they've been.

How bad is Purdue? Because I was kind of hoping KU could beat CMU, but they're handling Purdue pretty easily.

Iowa St. did lose its star WR for the year. Their starting C is also banged up. And their starting RT just quit the team. I think they might be in trouble this year. KSU does usually take a game or two to heat up, though, so it's tough to call. Also, I saw Charlie Strong suspended both his OTs for this week's game.

Finally get my first chance to see if there's any hope this season for KU.

Fun Fact: Since 2010, North Dakota State has more Big 12 wins than KU does. They absolutely hammered ISU today.

What's the read here? Stable as in embarrassing 2014 85M payroll stable, or stable as in we held back money this year embarrassing 100M payroll stable? The payroll thing is a little discouraging to me.

I don't think he's necessarily wrong about the Brewers needing to get rid of Sheffield. If the team thought he was tanking plays (and if his teammates did) they were kind of forced to trade him. It would be disaster to keep a guy who's knowingly effing up. Thus isn't a case of Sammy's boom box being too loud. It's a situation where a guy could purposely cost you ball games. This all presumes people could tell he was tanking while with the team. I know he later sort of admitted to it. I don't remember if that was the perception while he was there.

KU's top two RBs are out for the season. Two-deep is now a JUCO transfer with no D-1 experience and a true freshmen. 3rd string guy is a true freshman moved over from safety. Is it possible to win fewer than zero games?
