  1. Illinois looks like they're gonna be a pretty good team.
  2. Maybe Belk is more of a regional/southern department store than I thought, but I didn't think it was obscure at all. A lot of these seem not that obscure to me, too. Raycom, Gildan (who doesn't have a couple of beefy-ass Gildan t-shirts?), National University, Foster Farms.
  3. Factor also that they were kicking to Tyreek Hill, though, who can exploit a tiny mistake into a TD. He already had two returns for TDs this year. I think it was a terrible decision. If you're worried about a return, then the best decision is to max protect and tell your punter to kick it as far as he can. The 6-10 seconds are worth the extra 5 yards. Agreed. They didn't do that. Hence, it was a terrible decision. And I don't think I'm Monday Morning QBing here. If I'd have been watching the game in the moment, I would have said it was foolish to risk putting the ball in Hill's hands a second time. If running clock is important, do what you just described. Instead, they punted it to Hill again, he fielded it, and he was gonzo. Terrible, terrible decision by the coaches.

  5. that's one silly way to look at it. OSU's offense is not going to dramatically change. So it comes down to stopping a freshman with virtually no experience or facing two guys who have been considered Heisman candidates and who have tons of starts between them. You really think Saban is [expletive] himself because he has limited film on this guy? Did I say he was [expletive] himself? If I'm supposed to buy into this super-secret Saban game-planning powers then it really shouldn't matter who he's scheming against. Then again he probably wouldn't have lost to a 15 point underdog Oklahoma squad, but maybe that was the "they didn't really care" excuse they used when Utah embarrassed them. This isn't really particular to Saban. I would guess 9/10 coaches would rather face a team run by a freshman with one game under his belt than Boykin or Petty.

  7. Happiest man in college football is Nick Saban, who gets weeks to game plan for a freshman QB with one start over Boykin or Bryce Petty.
  8. Disagree. OSU should not be in.
  9. Zone seemed to give UK problems. Texas will be a load this year.
  10. he allegedly is coming to KU for 800k plus incentives. He elected to have a low salary so he can spend a ton of money on assistants. It will be interesting to see who he brings on. I'm guessing Bowen stays as DC and Reggie Mitchell stays because he's awesome. After that, who knows. But with the right staff, I could get excited about the hire.
  11. Like all Mike Anderson-coached teams, you can expect a lot of pressure, a fast pace-- Wait what? Their coach is KIM Anderson?
  12. Dunno. He was the guy from the AC pool who I thought was the safest pick. Allegedly he does not interview well.
  13. Starting to sound like David Beaty will be KU's next coach. I hope we offered Pelini and he turned us down, but I doubt we even did that. Of the Assistant coaches/coordinators we were targeting, I guess I like Beaty the best.
  14. Since 2000, Ohio State has won 11+ games nine times. Minnesota has won 8+ games three times. I'd say relative to one another, Kill's accomplishment is more impressive. Besides, part of being a dominant program is having high expectations. Those expectations often reduce your chances at winning awards like that. KU has won the Big 12 ten straight times. Self has only won COY 3 of those times. BFD.
  15. They'd probably jump TCU. A win over Iowa St. isn't going to help their resume at all. I still think Bama, Oregon, FSU and Baylor are in with wins, OSU needs one of the first three to lose (Baylor losing doesn't help them) and TCU either needs Baylor to go down or two of the other four. I have a hard time seeing 1 loss Baylor jumping 1 loss OSU They should. Baylor's marquee wins will be more impressive (TCU, OU, KSU vs. MSU, Wisconsin, Minnesota). Their loss at WVU is a better loss than at home vs V Tech. Also, tOSU's QB is dead or whatever.
  16. Is it better than beating KSU? GT has one more impressive win (They beat Clemson and Georgia; after OU, KSU's best win is WVU or UT). KSU's two losses came to better teams (Auburn and TCU vs. Duke and UNC.) I think they're fairly even, imo.
  17. He's the only guy I even remotely like amongst the candidates mentioned. That's a HUGE roll of the dice, though. Let's fire a sitting head coach who's never had fewer than 9 wins so we can hire an OC with zero HC experience?
  18. If there were a candidate who one could reasonably expect to elevate Nebraska, I could maybe see rolling the dice and canning Pelini. But right now, they're talking Patterson and Briles. Neither of those dudes are leaving their Texas stomping grounds to coach at a school that never even plays in that state. After that, the buzz I'm reading is Narduzzi, Frost, Fuente, or Fritz. None of those are home run hires when you just fired a guy who was guaranteeing 9 wins.
  19. So if PSU had a coach who won 9+ games/year for his first 6 years, you'd want him canned?
  20. I don't know if you're being sarcastic, but I'd be down.
  21. KU starting to play better. Selden is a hot mess right now. MSU missed about 40 bunnies in that game, so we might have been fortunate to sneak away with a W.
  22. lol, the SEC east is terrible.
  23. So is Illinois really going to fire their HC after he's gotten them bowl eligible this year?
  24. I think they have to honor head to head if Baylor beats KSU and ties them for the league title, but for the moment, I've had TCU in for several weeks now and I'm not sure why so many others don't. I don't disagree with that at all. Don't think Baylor is a better team, but it is what it is. If Auburn can do what LSU couldn't finish I will be very happy. Or Ole Miss for that matter. I think Baylor is the better team, personally.
  25. KU has at times looked a little better these last two games. We will still get punked by teams with size. I feel bad for Traylor, who was good as a complementary, undersized big, but is now expected to be a defensive anchor. He just cannot defend the 5 one-on-one.
