  1. They should try losing less games if they want to be in the top ten then. So you would rather them go 10-0 against the 97th best schedule than 7-3 against the best schedule? why don't we wait till the end of the season before we criticize KU's overall schedule. Their SOS will climb considerably if they beat OU/Mizzou. And people act like we purposely scheduled 11 patsies. Coming into the season, Nebraska, OSU, aTm, and KSU were all supposed to be formidable opponents. And when we scheduled Toledo and CMU, they were bowl teams. Toledo had a 10-win season. And for what it's worth, I think we could play with Florida. You act like they're some kind of juggernaut. If they were really that good, they'd be a one-loss team like LSU.
  2. What happened to O'Leary? Is he a coordinator somewhere?
  3. There was a recent article on KU written by Jason King. It talked about Al Bohl, the Athletic Director who hired Mangino. He gave Nick Saban, Gary Pinkel, and Pat Hill their first jobs, and he identified Urban Meyer as a future star and potential coach for KU. Mangino, Meyer, Pinkel, Saban, Hill...that's not a bad eye for talent. If I'm an AD looking for a coach, I might bring him in as a consultant.
  4. If Tennessee loses out, Phil Fulmer may be looking for another job. And if Fulmer is, David Cutcliffe would also become available as well as John Chavis. I doubt we lose out, though. Wow....imagine Michigan, Tennessee, Nebraska and UCLA all looking for coaches. The coaching carousel could be crazy. More than that. Possible openings: Michigan Tennessee Nebraska Texas A&M Arkansas UCLA Pitt? Arizona?
  5. and keep in mind, Durant had DJ Augustin to get him the ball. KSU has no one comparable. KSU has a chance to be much improved, and Beasley will be a force. But I really question their coaching hire, and it will be interesting to see how he manages that team.
  6. Haven't seen most of these teams play, so essentially, I'm winging it. Not sure how we're measuring right and wrong here. I missed the "closeness factor" of many games but stil picked the winning team. I've bolded the games where I did not pick the winner. I ended up 14/21 under that grading method.
  7. That game is a mismatch. KSU has gotten progressively worse since the CU game. OK St hung 40 something on them, they lost to ISU, and Nebraska corn-holed them. They only beat Texas because of three returns for TDs--a punt, a kickoff, and a pick. They'll need that kind of magic to have a chance against Missouri.
  8. WV-Mizzou would be a good game. I probably give a slight on the field edge to WVU. I think the running attack would gash Mizzou. As for the polls, it doesn't really matter. If you guys beat us and OU, you'll jump them. That's why I'm not too concerned about being ranked 4th. If we win out, the polls will adjust.
  9. Hope we're not looking past the Cyclones. They've given OU and MU scares, and they've beaten KSU and CU. We're not talented enough to sleepwalk past them.
  10. Why is Matt Ryan still on Heisman watch lists? Reesing should be ahead of him, and Daniel should definitely be ahead of him. Matt Ryan: 59.4%, 3269 yds, 24 TD, 13 INT, 129.8 Rating Chase Daniel: 69.4%, 3306 yds, 26 TD, 9 INT, 154.7 Rating Todd Reesing: 62.0%, 2647 yds, 26 TD, 4 INT, 151.8 Rating
  11. We'll see. Beasley is a stud, for sure, but will he remain on the team the entire year? Also, while I'm sure K-State wins a lot of games, will that actually equal being "really good"? The out of conference schedule isn't terrible, nor is the Big 12, but both offer a lot of easy victories. actually, the big XII is pretty bad this year, and I will be very surprised if he has as good a year as durant.
  12. how many are you gonna hang on KSU next week? 100?
  13. does todd reesing deserve an invite to NY for the Heisman?
  14. ku-osu tied 7-7. i'm watching it on gamecast, but it looks like we need to figure out how to stop D Savage.
  15. I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop on KU's dream season. This game is a likely candidate for that to happen. Let's hope KU's D mans up a bit better than they did last week. I still think we'll need to score 40 to win.
  16. Beat durant and collison, i believe. Of course, Collison got his against Texas....
  17. Well that's it. I'm through with baseball.
  18. KU vs the UL-Monroe Fighting Vance Nicholsons tonight
  19. I put Rose at the top, then Mayo and then Beasley, but that's probably because I've always been a guard guy. Beasley is sort of the same deal as Mayo, as far as having incredible talent, but sometimes a lack of drive. He should be the top freshman in the Big XII and I wouldn't be shocked to see him make second team all-conference. I like Beasley, Mayo, Rose, then Gordon based on pure talent. I honestly think Gordon will be the best player this year and at the next level, based on what I have heard about his work ethic and basketball knowledge. Also, you shouldn't be shocked if Beasley is 2nd team all Big XII. It would probably be a big disappointment if he's NOT. He has as good a shot as any (except for Rush and Augustin) to be the 1st team. I like Rush's game a lot (I really wanted him at OU, and at one point it looked like we had him) but he won't be full speed form that knee injury until December or January, and you never know how those type of things will effect a slasher until they get out on the court. But you're probably right about him being on the first team. I like Arthur at Kansas and Jones at A&M, but neither have a smidgen of the talent that Beasley does. I'll be very interested to see how Arthur looks this year. I don't bother comparing him to guys like Rose, Mayo, Gordon, Beasley because he's a completely different type of player. He supposedly was dominating the US team before he fractured his foot, though. Rush will be interesting, too. If he is still significantly slower by March, I agree with Raw's call that we won't reach the FF. Illiniguy--I left Gordon off the list because A: I've never seen him play either. And B. I forgot bout him. All I I've seen is about 3 seconds of Beasley in Mcd AA game, so I'm not really qualified to rank any of them.
  20. Here's a real mind-[expletive]: A-Rod gets more blame for the Yankees losing their last four post-season series than Alex Gonzalez gets for the Cubs game 6 loss in 2003.
  21. I'll try. If your OPS+ is over 170, chances are you know how to win. Wait a second, they're losing that guy. Nevermind.
  22. Rank Rose, mayo, beasley for me, for those of you who've been lucky enough to see them play. I'm hearing a lot of impressive stuff RE Beasley.
  23. Valdez should've invested in some roids that toughened up his skin. Or maybe just bought a can of Moises piss for an fraction of the cost.
  24. Let's trade for Dukes, sign Bradley and have their lockers sandwich Zambrano's. Also sign Michael Barrett. Oh man that would be great. Haha. Dream scenario. Can we revive Albert Belle's professional corpse, too?
  25. How does the Dempster conversion affect our pursuit of Kuroda? It would seem to me that, with a limited budget, Hendry would be loathe to sign Kuroda as an insurance policy to Demp.
