  1. Hmm, I disagree except for KSU over OSU. Otherwise I'd flip all of those picks. Probably the heart talking more than anything with the KU game though. I'm very concerned.
  2. don't forget routine flyballs where the hitter wills the center fielder to fall down I saw a kid in the independent Northern league (grittiest kid I've ever clapped an eye on, FWIW) place a routine flyball right between two fielders so they'd purposely collide and let the ball drop. 32 years watching the game, the grittiest play I've ever seen.
  3. The way I look at it, a LOW Line Drive % should INCREASE GRITFactor. I mean, these are guys getting on by any means possible. Duck snorts, dribblers in the hole, seeing-eye grounders. SLOW rollers that are fielded but beaten out via pure frakking hustle. A guy with a high GRITFactor rarely hits the ball hard because, well, he's not that good. Besides, he brings other things to the table.
  4. Nebraska's AD is reportedly GONZO. Talk is maybe Dr. Tom Osborne taking over. No confirmation yet, though. Some reports say just the D-Coordinator. I think there's a presser in an hour in a half. EDIT: It's official. Pederson is gone. http://www.sportsline.com/collegefootball/story/10410319
  5. KU should be ranked higher. Hopefully they don't run out of gas like Oklahoma did. I understand the voter reluctance. People look at our record last year, and they don't realize how close we were to 9 wins. We just couldn't close out games. They also don't realize how big an impact changing O Coordinators has been. Still, I'm not quite sure what to make of this team yet, either. Our schedule has been pillow-soft so far, but we've been POUNDING our opponents with an average score of 50-10. Also, our KSU win was pretty big, IMO. They should've beaten Auburn on the road, and they smoked Texas and CU. I think they're better than I thought. Who knows. I'm going to sit back and enjoy it as much as possible. It's weird being a KU fan and not caring about Midnight Madness because it's still football season.
  6. This week is a huge game for the KU football program. Colorado is not good, but they're a different team in Boulder, and KU has never played them well. If we win, we'll have a great shot at going into the Mizzou game w only one loss or--dare I say it--unbeaten. If we lose, well, it's the kind of loss that could really derail what's shaping up to be a special (by KU football standards) season.
  7. KU for #1 plz. Our Resume is just as good as OSU's. It should be S. Florida, IMO. I think ASU has a better resume than the buckeyes, too, for that matter.
  8. I don't know if anyone else watched the KState/CU game, but there was one play where KSU's RB, James Johnson, just would not be stopped. He was breaking tackles, bulling through the secondary, and otherwise just killing the CU defense. The announcer was getting all excited as the play developed, and toward the end, in a fever pitch, he yelled, "An unrelenting Johnson!" I laughed.
  9. No kidding. If Cal runs the table the rest of the way that play could cost them an NC shot. Unreal. What exactly happened, for those of us not watching? The QB needed to throw the ball away to stop the clock and bring on the FG unit for the tie, but he inexplicably scrambled, (presumably?) trying to get a TD. Time expired before the FG unit could kick.
  10. i feel bad for that Cal QB. Idiotic play.
  11. You guys vs. Tech next week could be a fun game. I suppose you slavers losing consecutive games might be to much to ask.
  12. There is only one undefeated team remaining in the Big XII. Rock Chalk Jayhawk. 6-0.
  13. Sometimes I think Jones is really attractive, other times.... I find Pam more consistently attractive, so I'll go with her. I don't get too worked up over either, though.
  14. holy bajingo, he's huge! either i'm just used to looking at him or that shot is actually a bit slimming. Seriously.
  15. I have it on good authority that Western Kentucky will probably win this game because Ball State's QB is going to be way too stoned to play. I hope this is a joke post, our QB is basically all we've got at this point! It is not. The getting high all the time thing isn't new, so he'll probably be as effective as ever. How the heck did you hear this? I'm Ball State student sports media and I couldn't have even guessed. well, it's not the type of thing a coach issues a press release on.
  16. I know none of you care about KU football, but I thought this pic was funny. It was the end of the game, and KU faked a linebacker blitz and just rushed 3 down linemen. Look at how many of the three down linemen are in the backfield. Now look at K-State's line, and explain to me wtf they are doing. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v604/snoodmonger1/deargod.jpg
  17. Prior magically coming back with anything close to vintage Prior stuff is one of the few ways I see this team significantly improving, assuming new acquisitions are difficult because of the team sale.
  18. hahahaha
  19. Pessimistic, don't let yourself get excited version: Allen Patrick or whoever runs the ball for OU, it doesn't matter, makes our defense wish they were never born. Loadholt keeps Sulak from getting to the QB/ballcarrier by eating him like a gingerbread man. Daniel fumbles once and throws a pick. OU wins 35-21 Optimistic, just watched us humiliate Nebraska version: Gameday and OU is enough to get the defense motivated to stop the run again, or at least enough to put the offense back on the field. The offense is a frakking machine that's the reason we've been up 25+ points in the 3rd quarter of every game. Bradford proves my theory that first year QBs never go all the way. Mizzou wins 42-20 Middle ground: I'd be out of my mind to predict a road win against OU. They've got too much talent all the way around, and the best shot is that Mizzou's offense scores enough points to force OU to make some mistakes that might swing the game in our favor. OU wins 38-31 after a late Mizzou TD makes it look closer than it was. I'll be rooting for Mizzou. If they could pull it off it would just make the Illini look that much better. Of course I'm living in Illini dreamland, I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop. I hope Mizzou loses by 100
  20. haha, "have speaks." Prediction for OU game?
  21. KU is ranked. Still, I'd hesitate to put them in the mismatch category until we have a better feel for them. They should beat Baylor, but it has let-down written all over it.
  22. I'll say it: I think Mizzou could go undefeated until its bowl game. Prolly have to beat OU twice (next week and in Big XII champ). tough but not impossible. They look pretty good.
  23. I hope LSU hammers Florida
  24. surprised flloyd didn't explode like waterford crystal
  25. yay fat coach!
