  6. Not true. My Sun Devils have none. Sat, Sep 1 San Jose State W 45-3 -- Sat, Sep 8 Colorado W 33-14 -- Sat, Sep 15 San Diego State W 34-13 -- Sat, Sep 22 Oregon State 10:00 pm -- Sat, Sep 29 at Stanford 10:00 pm -- Sat, Oct 6 at Washington State TBA -- Sat, Oct 13 Washington TBA -- Sat, Oct 27 (6) California 10:00 pm -- Sat, Nov 3 at (13) Oregon 3:30 pm -- Sat, Nov 10 at UCLA TBA -- Thu, Nov 22 (1) USC 8:00 pm -- Sat, Dec 1 Arizona 8:00 pm -- Stupid A teams. I started at the end of the alphabet and didn't finish the list! Still, 1 PAC 10, I'm just amazed how the SEC can do that and no one notices. KU also has none. And the caliber of the non-league foes we're playing is...not great.
  7. The idea our popularity is so predicated on our struggles is absurd. The only thing that will change is that our losing will cease to become a national story. Or at least less of one. There are still plenty of "Will Boston revert to the'Old Boston'" stories floating around. And those stories are just as abusrd as the question posed here. We won't lose fans. Perhaps, in future visits to the playoffs, we will have fewer fans of other teams pulling for us because they feel sorry for us, but those aren't fans. Those are people picking a rooting interest over a finite period of time. (The "If I had to pick a team this postseason, I guess I hope the Cubs win because it's been so long" crowd.)
  8. http://www.sportsline.com/collegefootball/story/10362820 Nice article featuring the country's best shut-down corner...KU's Aqib Talib
  9. It had a lot more to do with the horrendous division they play in then how tough they've played.
  10. I think it's pretty clear that UI is young but pretty talented. I expect they'll be upper eschelon Big 10 in the next couple of years, especially the way Zook recruits. A lot depends on his coaching, too. I still don't know if he got a fair shake at UF or if he was a victim of expectations, as I didn't follow his teams all that closely. But if I were an Illini fan, I'd be excited. It really looks like a program on the rise. I think the Mizzou win over them will turn out to be more impressive in hindsight, but it also showed that Mizzou is vulnerable--at least early in the season--on D. It will be interesting to see how more veteran, talented teams try to exploit that.
  11. They've got as good a case as anybody. 2 power conference teams away from home and one of the best MAC programs is a decent non-con slate, especially when the biggest obstacle to scoring thus far has been changing play calling to try to kill clock because they're up by 25 points. Illinois was hardly away from home. It was like a bowl game, the crowd was split down the middle, and the location was pretty equidistant from the two schools. Definitely not the same as a home game, and they went on the road to an SEC school the next week. Make no mistake about it--Mizzou is a talented team with a scary offense. Coaching and what may be a suspect D will cost them a game or 2, but they're top 25, imo. And I hate them.
  12. Work on that defense lol, i don't know if that score is accurate. Now ESPN gamecast has it at 45-7 again.
  13. KU up 66-7
  14. KU up 45-7
  15. Our talent level is night and day compared to end of the allen/beginning of the mangino era. But I admit, I'm expecting a dramatic leap this year. This is due in large part to a new O-Coordinator and a much faster secondary. Oh, and KU up 31-7 over Toledo.
  16. I thought OSU might surprise with their returning offensive weapons, wow. Getting beat Between the Hedges is one thing, getting punked by Troy is quite another. Their head coach makes Pinkel look like Belichek..
  17. Has your opinion of Pinkel changed at all though? They are good enough to take the North and have a 9 win season. I just don't know if I trust Pinkel to not screw it up and lose a couple of games they shouldn't lose. The only thing that has concerned me about Pinkel so far this season is the way he goes completely conservative on offense once we get a big lead in the 2nd half. However, I was comforted by the fact that Pinkel came out this week and took the blame for it happening: I like hearing that. I think he understands the urgency that everyone is feeling towards this team. This is the most talented team we've had in awhile, and it could be our best chance for awhile to win 9-10 games and the Big 12 North. In the three years I've been at Mizzou, Pinkel has definitely improved as a coach and it's good to see him taking responsibility for the lack of consistent play in the 2nd half of games this year. Doesn't matter. Things are coming together in Lawrence. Big XII N champs, 2007. LOL. Laugh all u want, but I think we're underrated. (We won't win the N) alright i can agree that you are probably underrated, so i could see 8-4, however, your non conference schedule is still a joke. but i guess if the jayhawks could go 4-4 in conference that would probably be a good season. by the way, for ku's sake, mangino needs to lose some damn weight. as a big 12 fan, its embarrassing. u seriously think we're a 4/4 team at best in conference? We can do better. I look forward to beating u guys. Our secondary will be much improved. And how is our fat coach an embarrassment to the conference? We will beat baylor, OK St, CU and ISU We will lose to aTm We can win/lose KSU, NU, Mizzou

  19. What do you mean by no night Big Ten games this year? Wisconsin v. Iowa next week is at night. Should be a great game. I live next to Ryan field, looks like all the night game lights are set up. Should be a good atmosphere. I think what he is saying is Evanston keeps saying various football teams can't play the Cats at night, and the first that was banned from such night games was UW. I'd feel bad for NW if it wasn't continually anally-probing the city of Evanston and its residents.

  21. I suck at math. I like advanced stats, but I don't understand them, and I couldn't calculate them if the Baby Jesus's life was at stake. So permit me to ask a really dumb question for clarification. In this scenario: that means player A is actually slightly below average. Or at least, he creates runs at a slightly lower rate in that park than the average player would. Is that right? What I would like to see you (or someone) do is create a thread that gives a layman's explanation for many of the advanced stats and how they are calculated. perhaps not the actual equation, as that would be likely to make my head explode, but just a dummies explanation of how it's created and how the stat can be used. (The future vs value-production thing is interesting to me, for example.) I will readily admit that four years ago, I thought OPS was a Naughty By Nature song. And now that I understand that and some of the more common saber stats, I see people using different, seemingly more complex ones. The WARPs, EqA, etc. So I think I need a data update. I'm sure I'm not the only one, and it could be stickied for easy reference.
  22. I also want to add my thanks to all you for making this forum so informative. I rarely post in it, as I don't know much about the players and thus have little right to evaluate them. but I promise, I read this forum every day, and I always learn something. Keep up the good work.
