  1. Well according to the report of the deals offered this time, ours was the best. So, no. Exactly. I'm really not understanding all of this "he gave us a discount stuff". From all the reports I've seen we offered the best deal. I'm glad he resigned with us but I'm failing to see the big hometown discount. He did come back without too much hand-wringing, so I'll give him full props for that. I'd credit the cubs with that, not him. Afterall, they are the ones that offered him a 1 year deal for potentially more money than the 2 year deals he had on the table. Any indication on what the incentives were for the other deals? Don't think so, and we'll probably never know. But, even if you ignore the incentives, a 1 yr 4M deal is more attractive to him than a 2 yr 6M deal. He's made over 45M in his lifetime, he can take the risk/reward of not having a guaranteed second year. And frankly, when you give a guy that amount of scratch in incentives to close games, along with it comes a promise that he has the closers job to lose. I dunno, for a guy with a history of arm troubles, it seems like 2 years at more guaranteed money is the "better" deal, especially if there were incentive clauses in the 2 year deal. But I see your point--for as much money as he has already--taking the risk that he'll stay healthy and earn those incentives isn't that big of a deal.
  2. Not to take anything away from Illinois, but thats one of the most asinine things that could happen. And I've read that too. Just ridiculous that we'd get passed up just cause the Rose Bowl wants a Big Ten team. Anyways Illinois is gonna be good for the next few years so let's just let Mizzou go to a BCS bowl this year. Hopefully Mizzou just beats OU so we don't have to worry about this. I doubt it happens that way. There was a BCS expert that said--and you missouri guys are gonna love this--if mizzou loses there's a good chance BCS takes KU over MU.
  3. This has probably been said already, but this should put to bed all that "He owes us" stuff. That's twice (I believe) that he's given us a loyalty when he probably could've made more elsewhere.
  4. Kansas has no shot at the title game, and I have no problem with that. Our only hope for a BCS game is if Mizzou wins, and even then, there's a chance we'll be passed over. I knew going into the Mizzou game that this would be the case, and I don't have much problem with it. The benefit of the soft schedule was that it put us in the position to get a BCS game. The drawback is, any slip-up will have a greater negative effect than it would with a tougher schedule. I will be pissed if UT is taken over us for the Cotton Bowl, though. And Mizzou would be getting robbed if they get passed over for an at-large at this point.
  5. He looked slow, but got good elevation on the oop he caught. He will get it back in a month. Plenty of time to get ready for the dance. You guys should have lost last night. That Buddinger travel call with 35 seconds to go and Arizona up two was horrible. i thought he did shuffle his feet on that. But we were the beneficiaries of a lot of calls, and we should have lost. We looked bad. Collins is the key to that offense, I think. He can break people down, and he's one of our best shooters.
  6. They get pretty mean-spirited. I thought the Mizzou/KU stuff here was pretty friendly personally. I didn't realize we were annoying other people.
  7. Tebow this year. Daniel next year. Sam Bradford the two years after that.
  8. he came back ahead of schedule. But he couldn't keep up with Budinger tonight. They're saying he's at 80%.
  9. We're trying to determine the most likely outcome of a game between the two teams. If Florida and Kansas played and Kansas beat Florida handedly, then Florida would likely fall behind Kansas in such algorithms. The games do matter. If Florida and Kansas played and Kansas won by one point, nothing would likely change. If they won 45-14, then there'd be a huge change and rightfully so. But enough about me winning this argument with relative ease, let's talk about this: Lol, give me a break.
  10. ugh, that victory felt like a loss. Hurry back Sherron.
  11. Is three losses on their schedule all that different than one loss on Kansas'? (Answer: No). Schedule matters. That depends on what we're trying to evaluate. Are we evaluating where each should be in the polls using the current system? If so, then yes, 3 losses is very different from one loss. Are we trying to determine who would win if they actually played? Then your argument is relevant. But I don't see the purpose of engaging in that argument, because if they did play and Kansas won, you'd still say UF was better because, according to the #s, UF is still a better team.
  12. we look awful. we really need a healthy rush and a healthy collins.
  13. take it back, rush looks slow.
  14. Exactly. I don't think anyone doubts UF is very good. But you have to play your way to the top. They lost 3 games--against high-end competition for sure--but they still had the three losses.
  15. Yeah, he really RUSHED back. Get it? I believe collins should be back by conference season, too. He, in some ways, is just as important as Brandon. Rush doesn't look any slower to me so far, but I don't know if I have the evaluation ability to really determine that.
  16. KU vs Zona. hard to care about it today.
  17. and for the record, I'm not going to sit here and say KU is better than Florida. We could beat them, probably. But if they played 10 times, Florida would win the lion's share (7, 8 times). What I don't understand is why you're constantly complaining about it. The best team doesn't always win (it's like that in every sport), and the rankings are never perfect reflections of the teams' abilities. It's like this every year. You're smart enough to understand that this is the way the system works. I'd be more interested in hearing how you would improve it rather than you simply complaining about its inequities, rudely sniping about other posters' favorite teams, and constantly force-feeding the board with Florida propaganda.
  18. I seem to recall Dee Brown referring to Self as Bill a couple times in private. You're right, though, I've never heard it in public. In private is different than public. And I could be wrong, maybe it happens all the time, and I'm seeing something that isn't there. It just seems like the players are running the program.
  19. Oh, my bad. Still a 12 point-loss. One of your three. By "your" I mean Florida's. Since you randomly picked Florida to root for because you play them in a video game.
  20. KSU has a lot of talent, but they have a coach (frank martin) who is out of his element. As a result, the team doesn't respect him, and it's only 5 games into the season. There was an interview in a Kansas newspaper where Bill Walker referred to their coach as "Frank." No Coach Martin. not even Coach Frank. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but I can't recall another instance where a player referred to his coach by a first name basis. I can't see the whole thing ending well for KSU. Everyone there knows Martin was hired only to retain a few players. Worst of all, the players know it. And so far they're acting like it.
  21. Florida's fifth and, ironically enough, behind Kansas who is fourth. Just the way it should be.
  22. good thing some guy in USA Today's rankings have no actual effect on the real world Except one of his polls is used for the BCS Computer rankings... Florida's top five in all scientific polls that involve SOS and score as well as other things. It should be certain that theyre one of the top five teams in the country. which of FLorida's 3 losses was your favorite? I prefer the 12 point loss at home to Georgia. Good stuff.
  23. or Kansas. Did I read the poll wrong? Sure looked like Kansas was 5th and Virginia Tech was 6th i think he's surprised kansas is above lsu, too.
  24. you know, for as much flack as the D will get, they held missouri to their fewest points scored all season. Mind-boggling.
  25. haha, thanks keener. a little bit of missouri hate always cheers me up.
