  1. I agree about Tech. They're going to be good enough to beat anyone on any day, but I haven't seen anything from them that would lead me to believe they can play defense consistently enough to challenge for the Conference title(of course, you could've said the same thing about Mizzou before last season). As far as Mizzou goes, they don't draw the toughest part of the south(Texas, Baylor, OSU), but they still have 3 non-home games against ranked teams(@Texas, Kansas and Illinois at neutral sites), plus they haven't won in Lincoln since we landed on the moon or something. They've still got to be favorites for the North though, as they didn't lose much from the best team last year, and their best competition both have rough schedules(KU plays Texas, OU, and Texas Tech; Colorado has a brutal non-con, and has to travel to KU and Mizzou). I wasn't trying to suggest they have a soft schedule. Just that they got soft rotation of the Big XII. I don't see them losing to Nebraska. Illinois, maybe. Texas, maybe, though Texas needs to step up big time from last year. Kansas, maybe, though my money is on Mizzou. Basically, I could see them losing one of those games and the Big XII title game.
  2. I think Texas Tech is being overrated by many. If there's a second BCS team from the Big XII, I expect it to be the North winner. Most likely that will be Missouri, who has the soft Big XII North schedule this year (and is, sadly, damn good regardless.) I'll be shocked if they have more than 2 losses going into the bowl season.
  3. wait a second... Fukudome is hardcorecubfan?
  4. So there's no hope for him at 2B?
  5. I think you could argue that each stadium having its own unique quirks and dimensions also makes home field advantage more important in baseball than any other sport.
  6. so all those brief...i dunno what to call them..."injury pauses" were abnormal for a soccer game? I'm asking because you guys have characterized the Italians as floppers.
  7. so i know nothing about soccer, and generally I don't like it at all, but that game (match?) was on at the gym today, and I was pretty entertained. Unfortunately, there was no sound/close captioning, so I don't really know what was happening. My basic question, though, is who was considered the better team going in to that?
  8. If he did, maybe he would realize that things have changed a bit at Wrigley since Lee Elia's comments. I'd venture to guess that the vast majority of Cubs fans are in fact making a respectable salary. Otherwise, how could we afford the $250 tickets, rooftops or $6.75 beers that Sox fans are so fond of saying we drink? that's why I want to just punch someone when they say Cubs fans are just jobless drunks. If we are jobless how do we sell out practically every game??? And if the White Sox aren't jobless then why do they get such bad attendance one of the largest markets??? To be fair, those shifts at Meineke are long and physically taxing. They probably just want to go home and relax afterwards.
  9. it will be difficult to pull that off w/o balking.
  10. Edmonds had a good quote, though: What was Edmonds asked? Who is 'you'? Dunno. It's from the ESPN game recap. It doesn't say who/what he was responding to. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=280621116
  11. I posted this in the Edmonds thread, but Ozzie was pretty dismissive of Ol' Jimmy.
  12. Ozzie continues to be an ass. RE: Edmonds: Edmonds had a good quote, though:
  13. It's amazing how much more likable Cards fans are than Sox fans. And this is coming from someone who hates St. Louis, the Cardinals, and many of their pretentious fans.
  14. Personally, I'm still not over that.
  15. lulz....55 seconds of silence elapsed from his call of "and this ball game is over" until finally dotting the tears away from his eyes long enough to say something. Neither one of those d-bags said a word for those 55 seconds. That was freaking awesome. Nearly an entire minute of silence. Ha ha! beautiful
  16. POTY. And someone please get a vid up of Hawk's reaction to AJP and the HR. PLEASE.
  17. Count me as another one who hates the Olympics. There are always a few moments that are great, no question. But on the whole, I'm usually pretty bored. Of course, it doesn't help that they were eternally tainted by tommie smith and co, amirite?
  18. Scot Pollard not good enough to get a congrats? haha, I forgot he was on the team. congrats to Pollard, too.
  19. congrats PAUL PIERCE!!
  20. Man, you guys are racking them up.
  21. One of my worst wrigley memories was sitting in front of some mouth-breather during a Cubs/Sox game who yelled, "PAULLLLLLLLLLIE!" every 30 seconds for the entire game. He was buddy was Donald Duckin' it too, which only made things worse.
  22. that HR he hit today was a laser.
  23. FAKE HUSTLE
