  1. He shot it at 38% from college three. (36 out of 95). I was impressed with his outside shot the times I saw him play.
  2. Sad though it makes me, I think you take Rose and dump Hinrich in a trade. Hopefully you can net a solid big with him and Deng.
  3. I thought if transfers stay academically eligible and graduate elsewhere it doesn't hurt the school. Or something like that. Am I wrong?
  4. I think this post pretty much nails it. We're here to talk about baseball and the Cubs. To Sean's credit, he is now part of that discussion, and that will include some criticism, both constructive and otherwise. That's probably nothing new to either Sean or his dad. In fact, I'm guessing a big part of Sean's success has been hearing the criticism, identifying the stuff that has merit, and improving on it. Let's hope that continues. I think we're all hoping that Sean harnesses his stuff, bumps Marquis from the rotation, and becomes a long-time, dependable fixture in our rotation. (Well, everyone except Marquisfan07.) But if that doesn't happen, no one should be afraid of discussing Sean just like we do every other player on our roster. So congratulations, Sean, and good luck. I hope you keep getting better.
  5. We all know that's exactly what will happen.
  6. I did, too. It was worth it.
  7. Awareness for organizations that raise funds for breast cancer treatments and research? And which one was mentioned in the article? You're looking it at too simplistically. Awareness isn't just about knowing something exists. It's also about having it top of mind. When these guys use the pink bats, etc., it generates discussion by the announcers, the folks doing the highlights, etc. That discussion makes the issue top of mind for the viewer. That, in turn, can lead to the viewer donating money/time (finding a BC charity isn't hard). It can also remind the viewer to get a mammogram and take other preventative measures. Or, if it is a male watching, it can prompt him to discuss that stuff with his wife/gf/daughter/sister/whoever. In relation to all the other diseases, doesn't breast cancern research receive the most awareness and fund raising in relation to how widespread the disease? While it's certainly a noble cause, it's kind of the easy way out - just wearing pink clothes. I never said it was the best way to help combat breast cancer. I'm just saying something as little as pro athletes wearing pink shoes can make a difference, even if there's no subsequent charity auction (which apparently there will be.)
  8. I'd have an outside shot at popping up/hitting a grounder if I guessed right on a fastball or he really hung something. Most likely I'd K, maybe foul one off.
  9. That's my question. I voted foul one or two off.
  10. I agree. I voted Hulk. Mongol looks pretty good, for those who haven't seen the trailer. I'll wait for reviews on The Happening before I'll see it in the theatres.
  11. If that's a consideration for anyone when they're voting, they should have the right to do so revoked.
  12. I stole this poll from Box-Office Mojo. I'm just curious to see how the answers compare here.

  14. Deron Williams is good. He's made some awesome passes today.

  16. lol@ a Lakers fan bitching about a lack of media attention.
  17. because he was never recruited very hard by weber or his assistants. i'm actually really shocked that he's not headed to minnesota, really shocked. he's got a lot of potential, that's for sure. but with the other guards in illinois, he was high on the illini's wish list for about 2 seconds---decided to bide his time and wait to make a decision, and then found himself out in the cold. He chose IU for the playing time. that seems to be the word. if he DID have offers from ku and uk, and was more interested in minny and iu, it makes sense that he would have chosen iu so that he could play right away. I can't speak for UI, but I'm pretty sure we never offered him. We definitely sniffed around. I believe his dad and Self became friends while Self was at UI. But I'm pretty sure we were lukewarm on him. he claims that he had a ku offer, take that for what it's worth. i'm skeptical, too. Who knows. He might have. We've probably offered worse players. I believe he dropped 30 on Jerryd Bayless once in an All-Star game.

  19. rowley's a monster, no doubt. definitely a project, and we already have one of those at center--although i think rowley has a lot better chance of making it that tis does. as for 09-10 being stacked with great players, it's true. but we already have the cream of the crop, so it's nice to sit back and not have to worry about getting a share and then watching as they go elsewhere. we just need those 2011 kids to start committing. oh yeah, and it appears that thompson doesn't have an illini offer just yet. Sulley, you said KU was in the lead for some kid named Blackshear. I don't know anything about him. Could you provide some details/scouting report?
  20. He could be a good player. I know UI and KU looked at him for a while but decided to go in different directions. He's a 3* on scout, and he was being recruited by good programs. I think he's the kind of guy who, if he continues to improve, could be a player by his Jr or Sr year.
  21. Congrats, Raisin. It's sounding like Bobo Morgan will be a Bruin after all.
  22. Northwestern sneaking into the tourney would be a great story.
  23. I wonder if this is a major consideration, though. What if they bring in a couple of mediocre JUCOs and then find out they get hit with a major scholarship reduction? Then they've got two warm bodies sucking up a portion of their already limited amount of schollies. That leads me to this question--is there a limit on the amount of schollies the NCAA can strip when penalizing?
