  1. KMOX was like an extension of the Cards franchise itself ... much moreso than WGN's TV and radio branches, which actually are tied to the Cubs. I understand why people are pissed - with the passing of Buck and the switch coming in such close succession, it must have been like the two-pronged 1998 blow of Caray's passing and the migration of many Cubs games from WGN-TV, only worse, as the St. Louis tradition had been in place for generations. Both changes reflected bigger changes within the broadcast industry itself. There's a massive shift underway with terrestrial radio, and as a radio enthusiast, I'm worried about the future - but thankful that I don't have a stake in any stations.
  2. Detroit's not so far away. I'd make that trip in a heartbeat, especially given the rarity with which the Tigers come to Wrigley.
  3. One game closer to the end of Dusty's contract. The White Sox can't gain any ground.
  4. Must you shill for them in multiple threads?
  5. I'm game. So when Steve Kline suggest that Mark Prior get hit by one, it's wrong, and it's okay for two of us to say it. I'm becoming less and less proud to be a Cub fan with comments lke this. There's a 4-page thread on Ozzie Guillen, a manager with a World Series ring and a competitive team this year, and it's all negative. So many "real" Cub fans talk about how obsessed with the Cubs Sox fans are, and how they're fickle, and don't exist. Judging by this section of the board and half the people that are/were Cub "fans," many of us aren't too far from that either. I feel like making some of you feel like that Sox pitcher last night. Grow up. I find it real tough to criticize a manager who just brought a World Series to a town where our manager does nothing but underachieve and make excuses. Yes, it was wrong, but how many of you wouldn't trade Guillen for Baker? They can both go to hell.
  6. There's always hope.
  7. You did a pretty good job of it.
  8. I don't know if it is possible but maybe try to work out a deal with one of the rooftop owners and place a video screen a top one of the building. The building with the Torco(now Miller) sign would work. They could even include the Miller signage asuming that is what they want down the road. We used to talk about that back in the early '90s. IMHO, it's the only way such a feature could be added with any legitimacy.
  9. I can't believe the Trib is paying for crap like that. Of course, Dusty remains in the fold, so I shouldn't be shocked.
  10. With #12 hanging around, there's really no other option.
  11. Here are some photos I took at the game. Consider them an offering of fellowship, Houston fans. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y225/southfork76/IMG_7816.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y225/southfork76/IMG_7825.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y225/southfork76/IMG_7831.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y225/southfork76/IMG_7845.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y225/southfork76/clemens.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y225/southfork76/IMG_7880.jpg
  12. that's not true. I don't think he'll be pulled this late in the game with a no-hit bid. Dusty only pulls him with risk of serious bodily harm. Carlos would break him in half.
  13. you're wrong Yes.
  14. Living with Dusty will do that to you.
  15. And if the Indians actually decide to play to their potential, they can be included there also. You know the Yankees and Red Sox are both going to make the postseason. They have to. I'm pretty sure it's in the baseball rule book that they both have to be in the playoffs. if they aren't, ESPN will explode I'd love to see the 2 largest payrolls sitting in the clubhouse watching the games in October. Unfortunately we know it'll never happen. I would rather have the White Sox at home watching October. Whether that means both the Yankees and Red Sox getting in or if it means Cleveland plays well and gets into the hunt, I don't care. As long as the White Sox don't make the postseason. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Count me in.
  16. Dusty needs to be fired end of story. BTW - Woody Paige is another guy who should be punched. He's such an annoying prick. I completely agree that Dusty needs to go, but it isn't in me to root against the team. If it gets Dusty fired, I'm all for it. Yes.
  17. A promotion to the big club is the worst thing that could happen to a Cubs prospect these days. Better to be traded away and miss out on Dusty's "teachings."
  18. The schedule doesn't matter. It's impossible to succeed when #12 is spotting the other team 10 runs before a pitch is thrown.
  19. That was an awesome day. It's sad that the Baylor years now look hopeful in comparison to today's wreck.
  20. Hendry has zero credibility so long as Baker continues his reign of doom.
  21. I've accepted that he's pretty much finished. I put the blame squarely on Baker.
