  1. Pick 'em Mark DeRossa, Moore, Mike Lowell, Abruy Huff? Bueler, anybody?
  2. Penny wise, Pound stupid. Same old story. That's our Hendry! I can't wait to see what Hendry gets at the dollar store this off season. Mike Lowell for three decent minor leaguers.
  3. USSocer, say away from sharp tools and high places. The sun will rise tomorrow.
  4. I hope this is a false rumor. How Ken Rozenthal knows this is beyond me.
  5. Short of Aramis refusing anything under 7 years and/or wanting at least $17 million per, there's really no excuse unless Aramis said he simply doesn't want to come back no matter what the offer. Love your sig. If the Cubs loose Aramis, Hendry will have an almost impossible job making this team competitive next year. They will almost have to trade away their best minor league talent (such as it is) to get anything of quality. I just can wrap my brain around this.
  6. Just bought a twelve-pack of blue moon. I don't plan on feeling pain either. Bell's Amber is smoothing it over for me.... Bell's is the bet micorbrew on the planet. In my fridge I've got Dopplebock Big Two Hearted Ale Pale Ale I make bi-mothly trips up to Michigan just to get it. love two hearted and pale, never had the dopplebock. have you tried Summit's selection? its alot like Bells...good IPA, EPA, amber Never had Summit, but I will look for it.

But the beer itself is worth the trip. The have a special christamas/new years brew that is a cream ale and is as smooth as high quality champagne. http://www.bellsbeer.com/brands.asp

  9. How about Carlos Marmol or Angel Guzman? Do people think that is too much to give up for Teahan? I'm going to repost this, as I'd like to hear what people think. It was the last post on the last page.

  11. I missed that the first time. Also Murton plays LF and Jones plays RF. "Dirty Japs shot my shins off." -Cotton Hill
  12. The Cubs also have holes in RF, SS, and 2nd, not to mention the pitching rotation. I like the Pinnelia signing and didn't want Girardi (I wanted Bocchey). I like what I've heard about the new hitting coach. Re-signing Aramis only means they don't have yet another hole to fill. The Cubs are comming off of a dismal season and there isn't that much to look forward too, right now.
  13. LSU's offense looks really good. I don't know how goo Alabama is, but LSU is making them look like Memphis.
  14. Isn't it Eastern time? :titanic: The quote from Serena makes me think it will get done, even if it's no announced tonight.
  15. That is some much needed good news. I wish Bruce would mysteriously come and post that the Cubs and aramis are this close <->
  16. hahahaha!
  17. Starting pitchers are the most overpayed player on the team if one goes by production for the relative to other players. A SP will only play in about 30 or so games a season. The Cubs offense is in much, much worse shape then it's pitching staff. EDIT: But getting aramis and getting two top of the line SP are not mutually exclusive. They can do both.
  18. What were the points? I think the best one is that the Big East beat had one OOC win over a team in the top half of its conference - that being Maryland. Gosh, now I'm watching Lou Holtz on SportsCenter. I swear, his ability to speak is diminishing every passing day. How many does the Big 10/11 have? 2? Wow...that's so much more impressive. How many do the 12 teams in the SEC have? The Big 12? who knows, I don't have a research staff Tennessee beat Cal. No one from the Big 12 has done it but Lee omitted that. I just don't understand why so many people are threatened by the Big East. It's a very talented balanced conference not the best but not the worst either. I just don't understand why other conferences don't get scrutinized as much, do you know? It's all the I-AA opponents. By and large they play a schedule similar to the C-USA or the MAC and still get consideration for the NC game. I'm not sure how Louisville, WVU, or Rutgers would fare in the Big 10 or SEC. They may be middle of the pack ACC or Big 12 teams.
  19. Jeez! 5/70, with a team option in the 6th for 16m, and a 5m buyout. That makes it a 14.3m per if you pick up the option, 15m per if you don't pick up the option. What is so freaking hard about that deal that is couldn't have been done a week ago? If Aramis gets pissy about it, make the six year a mutual option or a vesting option. I don't like the direction this is going.
  20. Could someone burry me in snow for the next two weeks. I cannot wait. come ooooooooooooooooooon!
  21. I always talk like that, but quite frankly the Cubs are a terminal illness for me. I can't quit. "I wish I knew how to can't quit you, Cubs."
  22. I thought you visited this board a lot before you registed? If you did, you'd have noted a lot of people wanted Aramis re-signed before it got to this, and everyone hated the opt-out clause. Thanks for handling that via PM, Raisin. Anything else I say on the subject will be conducted off these boards, thank you. Where did I say that no one complained about the opt out clause? I was against that at the time too. I don't remember one person, much less all those up in arms about the present situation calling for a new contract this past winter (which is ridiculously implausible anyway). You weren't around last winter.
  23. Does anyone know what his last contract looked like? What kind of dollars is he looking for. Signing Drew could make Pie expendable. If A-Rod is available and the Cub loose Aramis they could package Pie with Hill and try to snag A-Rod.
  24. Depending on the money paid, I like this. Maybe the Cubs are finally hoping for the best and planning for the worst, instead of planning for the best and not thinking about the worst.
  25. Perfect example of using stats as a drunk would use a light pole. In 2004 Aramis was 4th in OPS in MLB for 3rd baseman In 2005 Aramis was 4th in OPS in MLB for 3rd baseman In 2006 Aramis was 5th in OPS in MLB for 3rd baseman. He is top five 3rd baseman in baseball. Pay him like one. You are incapable of discussion without insults. It's unbelievable. OPS is generally regarded as the most important stat for a player, so I don't see how stating the fact that his declined three consecutive years is a crutch. It's a bloody basic observation on value. I have no problem with paying him good money. But he wants top 10 in baseball money, and he has never been in the top 10 in production. At 5/75 he will be one of the most overpaid players in the league. Except for his decline isn't a real decline, as goony pointed out. And he is still in the prime of his career. What you wrote was factually accurate but far from the truth. Not to mention misleading. Aramis plays a premium position and is one of the best at his position both offensively and defensively, he should be a guy you build your team around.
