  1. I just sent this in to A Veiw from the Fans Not my best work, but not bad after a few beers. I don't think it will get printed.
  2. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-061111ramirez,1,4395779.story?coll=cs-cubs-headlines Paul Sullivan wieghts in. Nothing new here, but I thought I'd post it. The beat writer for the team owned by the newspaper he writes for cannot get a comment from the guy who runs the team. What a reporter, he's right up there with Woodward and Burnstein.
  3. How often does a team that loose exclusive rights end up resigning the player. I can't think of one time with a big name player. I still hope Hendry gets this done and it get announced tomorrow.
  4. Prior and Z are the only one left from 2003 if Wood leaves.
  5. I'll pitch in but I would like a Frank Costanza/George Steinbrenner rant to go with it.
  6. I think Hendry refuses to go above 15 per season. It's over, IMO. Like I wrote before, it is more likely the years. The Cubs aren't afraid to pay but don't like to give the years. However, watch them give Soroino a huge four or five year contract that will pay him big bucks when he's 35
  7. I still have hope that Hendry and Aramis will work this out. Delusional I know, but until he is gone, I will hope. I guess that's why I'm a Cubs fan.
  8. Don't even think that. I swear if they resign Slappy, I'll be more bitter than DisgruntledCubFan. I hated Slappy before they signed him, and I hate that they gave up three prospects to get him, and I hate that he played for the Cubs in 2006, and I hate they didn't deal him at the deadline, and I could not stand another year with his noodle arm throwing, slap hitting, uniform too big wearing self.
  9. What the hell happened? What happened? I think all of that is just agent speak = crap. Or the Cubs wouldn't pony up with the years they wanted. Ever since the MacPhail era the Cubs have not wanted to give out longer term contracts. If his agent said those things to a reporter I think they are closer to the truth, than he was just blowing smoke. Hendry is not getting the job done. Both Lee and Rameriz kind of fell in his lap. Nomar had to be dealt and Hendry gave the Sox the best offer. He's not done much to bring talent to this team. His handling of the Sosa fiasco was just pathetic. It reminds me of the Ed Lynch era. Aramis is just in another of the long line of players who should have stayed with the Cubs.
  10. Pick 'em Mark DeRossa, Moore, Mike Lowell, Abruy Huff? Bueler, anybody?
  11. Penny wise, Pound stupid. Same old story. That's our Hendry! I can't wait to see what Hendry gets at the dollar store this off season. Mike Lowell for three decent minor leaguers.
  12. USSocer, say away from sharp tools and high places. The sun will rise tomorrow.
  13. I hope this is a false rumor. How Ken Rozenthal knows this is beyond me.
  14. Short of Aramis refusing anything under 7 years and/or wanting at least $17 million per, there's really no excuse unless Aramis said he simply doesn't want to come back no matter what the offer. Love your sig. If the Cubs loose Aramis, Hendry will have an almost impossible job making this team competitive next year. They will almost have to trade away their best minor league talent (such as it is) to get anything of quality. I just can wrap my brain around this.
  15. Just bought a twelve-pack of blue moon. I don't plan on feeling pain either. Bell's Amber is smoothing it over for me.... Bell's is the bet micorbrew on the planet. In my fridge I've got Dopplebock Big Two Hearted Ale Pale Ale I make bi-mothly trips up to Michigan just to get it. love two hearted and pale, never had the dopplebock. have you tried Summit's selection? its alot like Bells...good IPA, EPA, amber Never had Summit, but I will look for it.

In my fridge I've got Dopplebock Big Two Hearted Ale Pale Ale I make bi-mothly trips up to Michigan just to get it. All the way from Memphis? Yes and to see my parents too. But the beer itself is worth the trip. The have a special christamas/new years brew that is a cream ale and is as smooth as high quality champagne. http://www.bellsbeer.com/brands.asp

  18. How about Carlos Marmol or Angel Guzman? Do people think that is too much to give up for Teahan? I'm going to repost this, as I'd like to hear what people think. It was the last post on the last page.

  20. I missed that the first time. Also Murton plays LF and Jones plays RF. "Dirty Japs shot my shins off." -Cotton Hill
  21. The Cubs also have holes in RF, SS, and 2nd, not to mention the pitching rotation. I like the Pinnelia signing and didn't want Girardi (I wanted Bocchey). I like what I've heard about the new hitting coach. Re-signing Aramis only means they don't have yet another hole to fill. The Cubs are comming off of a dismal season and there isn't that much to look forward too, right now.
  22. LSU's offense looks really good. I don't know how goo Alabama is, but LSU is making them look like Memphis.
  23. Isn't it Eastern time? :titanic: The quote from Serena makes me think it will get done, even if it's no announced tonight.
