  1. Are the Bears going to stay in NY for the week?
  2. Ok, I'm terrible at this sort of thing but here it goes. Sign JD Drew and put in in CF Try and get Julio Lugo and put him at second I'd love to get rid of Cesar and Jones but I don't see Hendry doing any of that. I'd try and get Zito and go bargin shopping for another starter. Maybe dangle Murton, Marsahall, Veal, and Gallagher and see what I could pick up. But definately don't resign Pierre, one mistake is enough.
  3. Did you see him in person or on TV? Aramis was much thinner this year compared to previous years.
  4. Kerry showed he was loyal too. I'm really hoping he can regain his form.
  5. Although I am happy, all Hendry has done is keep the status quo. Now the REAL work begins. I can't wiat for DisgruntledCubFan to post his reaction to the news.
  6. There will be a Christmas after all. Should we now all get drunk to celebrate? Treeman, the hang over was worth it! :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: The Cubs still have plenty of money to get another bat and upgrade elswhere! I am so happy :D :D :P  :afro: :drunken:
  7. http://www.latimes.com/sports/baseball/mlb/dodgers/la-sp-simers12nov12,1,6759741.column?coll=la-headlines-sports-mlb-dodger This guy makes Drew out to be very, very soft. Well i guess i dont see it that way or the way this guy describes him. A few meaningful quotes... "We certainly had our differences. We talked for two years about him disappearing before games and hiding from the media glare that comes with being paid like a big star. I told him I thought he lacked passion and he said it was a long season and it was more important to pace his emotions. I challenged him repeatedly, prodding him to show more life, contending the team's most talented player — if fired up — could raise his game another notch." Thats right raise him game to like um.....Barry Bonds #s?? How silly. "When the Dodgers got swept in the playoffs, the fans made it clear they weren't enamored of Drew's lack of production. He received more boos than cheers as the season came to a close. Dodgers executives and Manager Grady Little had let it be known they weren't pleased by Drew's measured approach to the game, Little at one point instructing him "to strike out" to maybe make him more aggressive at the plate." Should i even consider making a comment on this garbage........um no. This article seems like a roast job. Drew said he would be back for 3 more years. He opted out but not necessarily out of the Dodgers. It doesnt even sound like they wanted to pay him more per year or consider it. They are equally at fault if he doesnt return. He's worth more per year than 2 years ago because of the market, it is the Dodgers who dont want to step up to the plate and be aggressive. Screw them. From what I understand Drew is a very religious guy and tends to be a loner. I get the feeling he doesn't really trust anyone given his entry into the profession. That neither makes him soft nor a bad player.
  8. Since when has mlbtraderumers.com every been reliable or accurate?
  9. Really? How many years has that been an issue for him? I know, I'm just giving you a hard time. :P He's had some injury issues in the past, but nothing quite a serious as A-Ram's. Also, Lowell had no major injury issues whatsoever, as memory serves me. I thought Lowell played through nagging back injuries for a long time. But I'm going off memory there, so I could be mistaken. Lowell had testicular cancer and has had back issues. Also he always seemed to fade in the second half of the season. I never liked him quite as much as I liked Aramis. But the point of your article is well taken and not something I thought of before I read it. You have at least one up on Paul Sullivan.
  10. I agree with both of you and O_O too. I think another issue not address in the article is the Cubs reluctance to give longer term contracts. It has cost them time and time again.
  11. Meh... If you're going to be trading away assets, might as well use the money effectively. Sign some additional high-end talent, then trade it away at the end of the season when you've eaten some of the risk of the contract. That is a good idea. Start renting players and trade them in for good young talent. I like it.
  12. I would trade Lee but not Z. I would also trade Barrett. And I would try to trade Hendry for a blender and some box end wrenches.
  13. I just sent this in to A Veiw from the Fans Not my best work, but not bad after a few beers. I don't think it will get printed.
  14. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-061111ramirez,1,4395779.story?coll=cs-cubs-headlines Paul Sullivan wieghts in. Nothing new here, but I thought I'd post it. The beat writer for the team owned by the newspaper he writes for cannot get a comment from the guy who runs the team. What a reporter, he's right up there with Woodward and Burnstein.
  15. How often does a team that loose exclusive rights end up resigning the player. I can't think of one time with a big name player. I still hope Hendry gets this done and it get announced tomorrow.
  16. Prior and Z are the only one left from 2003 if Wood leaves.
  17. I'll pitch in but I would like a Frank Costanza/George Steinbrenner rant to go with it.
  18. I think Hendry refuses to go above 15 per season. It's over, IMO. Like I wrote before, it is more likely the years. The Cubs aren't afraid to pay but don't like to give the years. However, watch them give Soroino a huge four or five year contract that will pay him big bucks when he's 35
  19. I still have hope that Hendry and Aramis will work this out. Delusional I know, but until he is gone, I will hope. I guess that's why I'm a Cubs fan.
  20. Don't even think that. I swear if they resign Slappy, I'll be more bitter than DisgruntledCubFan. I hated Slappy before they signed him, and I hate that they gave up three prospects to get him, and I hate that he played for the Cubs in 2006, and I hate they didn't deal him at the deadline, and I could not stand another year with his noodle arm throwing, slap hitting, uniform too big wearing self.
  21. What the hell happened? What happened? I think all of that is just agent speak = crap. Or the Cubs wouldn't pony up with the years they wanted. Ever since the MacPhail era the Cubs have not wanted to give out longer term contracts. If his agent said those things to a reporter I think they are closer to the truth, than he was just blowing smoke. Hendry is not getting the job done. Both Lee and Rameriz kind of fell in his lap. Nomar had to be dealt and Hendry gave the Sox the best offer. He's not done much to bring talent to this team. His handling of the Sosa fiasco was just pathetic. It reminds me of the Ed Lynch era. Aramis is just in another of the long line of players who should have stayed with the Cubs.
