  1. Exactly. It's a virtual lock without even knowing who is else is on the table that Contreras over 3 years goes a longer way for them than some unnamed unknown prospects. What are the chances they *actually* get ML impact prospects ready to run roughshod on the league for 6 years? Look how the Samardzija trade turned out for the Cubs and that was landing a guy who ended up one of the best handful prospects in the game right after I think if anyone's throwing an extra player in, probably a pitcher, it's the Rockies. Gray's not the AS (unless he was, I don't know), Contreras is the AS. Gray doesn't play everyday, Contreras plays everyday, Gray has 2 years, Contreras has 3 etc etc I’d take a Wilson/Blackmon trade.
  2. lol, Royals and Phillies. Harper vs. Hard Ass Joe should be a fun storyline.
  3. I just want him to not be a bad manager.
  4. I haven't paid enough attention and I suppose I don't really care all that much, but Ross seems to me like not a very good choice. On the other hand, what do I know?
  5. No one outside of Baez and Bryant is going to bring anyone back that is all that great.
  6. Schwarber. I see 49% say, Contreras. Why?
  7. I don't think Girardi has learned anything. He's steeped in "old school" ideas. There is probably a very good reason he hasn't managed since 2017. I don't know why the Cubs would even interview him.
  8. horsefeathers every team in the division who aren't the Cubs.
  9. Will they drag this out until the winter meetings?
  10. Whoops, forgot he managed in Washington
  11. Maddon is going to sleepwalk his way through a few years in Orange County before retiring, just like Dusty did in Cincinnati.
  12. He's the bench coach, don't you think they've seen him up close already? Sorry, I really mangled that thought. The fact that they hired Loretta, who fits the next-gen manager profile exactly, as bench coach means he has to be favorite IMO, unless 2019 revealed something they unexpectedly did not like about him. He's got the taint of Maddon.
  13. It's no longer Maddoning.
  14. Because I don't care to post enough. This is a weak ass response lol, I'm right and you don't have a rebuttal. No, it's a pretty good response to a weird, "I usually like you" post, Guy I Thought Was CubinNY until a minute ago. And I'm not sure how you can argue away, "I think Kris Bryant is going to be dealing with nagging injuries too often," like you think there's some kind of slam dunk response. I don't usually like you.
  15. I've officially gotten to the "I don't care" portion of the season. Haven't had that feeling since 2013. It's been a *fast and good six years.
  16. Riz needs to go to Switzerland or Transylvania in Europe they that blood platelet transfusion
  17. Cubs Sox. How does Theo make them not suck in the offseason? I have no idea given the financial limitations. What a mess.
  18. boooooooooo! It's a great, happy song!
  19. Cubs should be able to crush this turd.
  20. Their badness is a reflection of the front office and manager. They are a large market club and can afford whatever their best player is asking for. Assuming he'll just walk is predicated on the belief that the Cubs won't pay. That may true, but it's not because they cannot. If they trade Bryant for prospects, whether or not they are MLB ready, they are signaling that the door/window has closed for this group. They might as well get rid of everyone and start all over again. They are not going to replace his production.
  21. Shut down will need surgery. https://larrybrownsports.com/baseball/cubs-shut-down-brandon-morrow-season/510095
  22. They don't just suck on the road. They suck. Who's to blame? I need names, people.
  23. When I opened the thread I was hoping he was released, guess not. I am not an animal, I'm a human being- John Merrick
  24. Edit: it’s been 16 years, we’re allowed to laugh about this now right? Ban this [expletive]. One of the darkest days of my life.
  25. Should have been sellers.
