  1. So much for Miley’s trade value.
  2. What a horsefeathering shittily run franchise. 45 PAs is all he got. And kept Jayson 6-4 Heyward.
  3. The Yankees released Shelby Miller.
  4. We ain't gonna do isht. They have to become free agents first.
  5. Well, it looks like they at least avoided arbitration with him. Hopefully, that is a good sign.
  6. They got PCA for Baez last year. If that's the case I hope they don't trade Willson. PCA had played 6 professional games in A ball and then suffered a season ending injury, his value in July was far more equivalent to Vientos than Alvarez. But yes, I'm increasingly convinced the way forward here is extending Willson(as if 'keep the good player' needed a sales job) and probably trading Happ. I understand the concept of trading a player that they are unlikely to sign to an extension. I don't understand why they would want to trade Wilson and not get an adequate return. This is especially the case related to the value he has to the team, his positional value relative to his peers, and the Cubs positional need. I really cannot understand why they aren't going out of their way to extend him. I don't think the answer is PTR. But I don't know the baseball reasons.
  7. I think in general folks in the media overcorrect in having too low a cost for rentals, but the Cubs aren't getting a Top 10 overall prospect hitting well in AA for Contreras, even with a quality player like Robertson thrown in. I also don't think the Cubs are really getting fleeced in that proposal, at least in terms of the general value. Vientos is the type of player(50-100 overall, high potential but clear flaws) who does make for a more reasonable match for a half season of Contreras plus a flyer on Smith's remaining potential, and Robertson bringing a Top 10ish and Top 20 prospect doesn't feel out of place even if I might prefer different specifics. They got PCA for Baez last year. If that's the case I hope they don't trade Willson.
  8. It's kind of pathetic that they are going to reschedule this game.
  9. Any trade that involves the Mets that doesn't include Álvarez is a non-starter.
  10. Yeah I think coming into the year I'd have bought that it was 50/50ish whether Heyward or Ortega were better suited to that LH platoon OF role. Heyward appeared to be the better defender, and while he was a mess last year was very strong in a platoon role from '18 - '20. And with the mess that the 40 man was in due to all the injuries, as well as the 11 games in 9 days, I can buy why he actually made it off the IL. What I don't buy is why he's currently starting every day, or how/if he survives Seiya coming off the IL. Brett brought up the point of maybe out of respect they're giving him one final shot to turn it around? But again even doing as much mental gymnastics as possible it's essentially impossible to justify him making it to Monday. The Cubs are experiencing the sunk cost fallacy.
  11. Nelson Valasquez is murdering AAA pitching right now. There are probably multiple players in the minors who would produce at the same level as some of these dude.
  12. Morel half way to a cycle.
  13. Or maybe a 16-1 game
  14. Thompson not sharp tonight. 5-1 Birds
  15. He’s 22. Nothing but good things to come. This might be one of those 16 to 12 games.
  16. A lot of center cut pitches for KT in the 1st
  17. Thompson gives up back to back dongs to start the game. The first on was on a good curve
  18. Lead off dong for CM
  19. Interesting point by Law
