  1. Where do the Cardinals find all these goes who go triple digits?
  2. Most people on that stuff horsefeathers and puke at the same time.
  3. Stro runs out of gas, and as is his wont, Ross takes him out after the game is tied. Ross's fatal flaw is not playing guys like Heyward too much, it's his inability to recognize when to take his starting pitchers out. Seems like it should be a strenglh.
  4. Stro looking great through 4 innings.
  5. Yadi has put on at least 35 pounds from the start of the season.
  6. Willy is feeling good. 1-0 in the third. Pornstache [expletive] is on the mound for the birds.
  7. Unless the medicals are complete horsefeathers we should take a run at him, he’s shown periods of being absolutely elite. Even if it’s just a RP/long man role. Like just give him Leiter’s spot and see what he can do. Agreed on this, why not give him a shot? It's just a few bucks and then you can non-tender him after the season if he's bad or gets injured. Also, the previous posters who mentioned the luxury tax impact--thanks, that makes a lot of sense! Instead of "It's different here!" the Cubs tag line should be "We buy garbage and sell it to you at exorbitant prices".
  8. I'm interested in hearing ideas for what people think the Cubs should do for the remainder of the season. I'm all for quickly DFAing a bunch of shlubs and bringing up prospects just to get them acclimated to the big leagues. I know they won't do this due to service time [expletive] and money this and more [expletive] that. But please, let's see what they have and not have to watch/listen to Frank Schwindel and Heyward and a bunch of other stiffs getting ABs. Start the rebuild process now.
  9. What if, and I’m just spitballing here, the guys that were offered in the trades by the other teams were not that good and/or unlikely to be major contributors to the major league team in 2-3 years? I don’t like the idea of letting Wilson go and getting the money and comp pick, but if the money and comp pick are of higher quality than the players offered, it makes more sense to take that route. To me, it makes much more sense to work on an extension.
  10. I want to go on record in saying that I think the Nationals won this trade. The only caveat is that it will be even if the Padres win the WS before Soto walks to FA.
  11. They clearly think they have the team in place to win. They might if deGrom can stay healthy.
  12. I agree with this. Desipio on Twitter is raging Jed pretty good. But I think a lot of people would be doing it one way or the other if the prospects were mediocre. Jed's fundamental error was not extending him before the season. I think the industry has a frame for certain positions that doesn't always work. The frame for a catcher is defense uber ales, but pretty much mostly interchangeable on all other categories. I think they value Wilson in that frame. He was probably not going to draw the prospects Jed thought he would due to the industry and the Cubs. Also, not a lot of starting catchers get traded in season for "chemistry" reasons or something.
  13. Honestly, I never really cared for him in the booth. His one-man show was tedious and mostly boring. Some people are good people and they get to do something for a long time a certain way because they are genuinely nice.
  14. What’s the point of posting this in a game thread? Happer takes a HR away.
  15. Willy hits a triple in his 2nd AB.
  16. He’s a big boy. Put him on a diet in Arizona this winter.
  17. The Cubs have certainly added a lot of pitching between the draft and now. I love the Efross and Robertson returns.
  18. But not here. They will extend him. I’m confident.
  19. Sometimes the best trades are the ones you don’t make.
  20. Not that I'm pining away to trade Wilson, but it seems strange that nothing is bubbling after the early rumors this morning.
  21. I saw Robert Hassell III, in South Bend. He is going to be really good. He looks like a tight end/line backer.
  22. Anyone but the Cardinals. And, lol.
  23. Sounds like a done deal for Soto to the Padres.
