  1. Cubs up 4-0 in the 3rd. Did Pat commit a crime in Canada?
  2. The Athletic has predictions out, they predicted the bears at 6 wins. A bottom 3 team.
  3. Why did Ross take out Sampson with one out in the 4th?
  4. Joe Madden to be next Sox manager, book it!
  5. Ballesteros is really going to have to watch his weight. Ya think?
  6. I just want him to have a winter in Arizona where he has access to dieticians and a personal trainer at the club's expense. There is no telling what kind of player he could be. I mean, if he is a possible defensive catcher at that weight, imagine the possibilities. I suppose I should ask, is he a possible defensive catcher or are we looking at a DH/1st type guy when he moves up?
  7. I hope they encourage him to stay in Arizona this offseason and give him the Schwaber program. This kid is such an obviously good athlete.
  8. Awesome! I know goony doesn’t care for Pat, but I can’t imagine a game without him. I listen to games way more than I watch because he makes the game so enjoyable. And Arenado gets tossed.
  9. Peaking into the SB game. Those innings go by fast with pitch clock. Hodge looks good. Down 2-0
  10. That's one the worst ideas I've ever read. If the goal of all these changes is to increase action and push star players, why is not giving the stars more PAs and also improve offense a bad idea? There are better ways to do things. Move the mound back, make a limit on the number of pitchers on a 25/26 man roster. Don't make it a different sport.
  11. Nothing really to do with this thread, but 2003 seems like it was just yesterday and next year it will be 20 years. Prior Wood Zambrano Clement Sammy Alou Aramis What a team. I think that year took a few years off my life.
  12. That's one the worst ideas I've ever read. I know what would make baseball better. Let's have a team of hitters and team of fielders and a team of pitchers. It wouldn't actually be baseball, but it would be... something. knockoff sofa wannabe.
  13. 100% correct. His throws make me want to vomit. I don't think I've ever seen a weaker arm.
  14. The commercial breaks are in the same spots they always are - between innings and pitching changes - so I don't think that part's an issue. Like you, I remain skeptical that casual fans are waiting to watch baseball in droves if the games are two and a half hours 162 times a year instead of three, but as long as the actual gameplay isn't being negatively affected I'm not against it. Now that the DH is universal, an idea I like is cut down the batting orders to 8 guys. Then you can DH for a position player if he’s a horsefeathers hitter but good fielder. Also it increases PA’s for the star players and should have more action then since you don’t have the horsefeathers backup catchers or whatever of the world taking 3-5 PAs a game. That's one the worst ideas I've ever read.
  15. that's super interesting. Do you have any articles that talk about this? I've always been a QB and lines (O and D) guy in terms of constructing a football team. I don't know how that would be provable in any data-based way but it sort of makes sense when so much of the offense is based on passing. Good coverage leads to sacks and incomplete passes.
  16. At his age, he will likely retire. I wouldn't sign him to any contract whatsoever.
  17. dead (big) cat bounce.
  18. I have a few WS friends that are normal otherwise, they hate TLR. I mean the dude fell asleep in the dugout this year. If you can't fire him give him a window seat in upper management.
  19. Also, putting public pressure on the Cubs is nice
  20. 0-0 in the 4th Madrigal is kind of a liability in the field.
  21. Wash just coming her to post a more boring version of that tweet
  22. apologies for the imprecise use of language. I know we are sticklers for precision, especially when it comes to the Cardinals.
