    I couldn't bear to watch the end of the game. It was too much heartache for me. After the rain delay, I went to bed, but I had my wife give me updates from the living room. I was so mad at myself for not being able to watch. But 2003 nearly killed me. If it happens again I will watch to the bitter end.

    The Iowa team might play .500 ball against the Nationals, Pirates, Reds, and A's.

    Yes, he really seems like he knows what he's doing. I hope they pay him well and keep him when they eventually fire Ross.

    Maybe not the best analogy, but back in 2005 during the fever days of the housing boom my wife and were trying to buy a house in Westchester county NY. We'd make a bid and then have the agent tell us that there was another bid x amount higher. Then we'd increase by x+1 and the agent would come back and say we were outbid again. This went on for like two months. I got fed up with it. So I told our agent that from that point forward our bid was our bid. We had a house within one month. It wasn't the greatest, but we were satisfied. I think that's what Poles is talking about. he wants the best offer so he can weigh them all.

    He can pitch until he's 40. He doesn't rely on velocity. He might not be a starter until then, but he's got the profile of a guy who can be useful as he ages. His main issue is that he simply cannot miss his spots. He did a great job of that yesterday. If he puts the ball anywhere but the bottom 1/3 of the zone he's going to get hit hard. That said, I hope he opts out and I don't want the Cubs to sign him.

    I got tickets for a Smokies game when they come to Montgomery. I don't like the six game series thing. I'd rather see them more than once as the rosters change during the season, but I get why they are doing it.
