  1. It kind of seems like the Cubs pitchers left all their control in Arizona
  2. Is anyone else’s Marquee feed on DirectTv keep cutting to a still ad for Ace Hardware?
  3. Had there been any word on Wisdom’s hand?
  4. I don't like that new people cannot get access to the social forum. I kind of get why, you don't want to expose anyone who may be slightly nutty to the rest of us nuts. However, it's good to give everyone access. We might have a new Cubs fan who also loves to talk about Star Wars or movies, etc. The social forum is what's held this place together through the lean years.
  5. Every team fixes problems on the fly, but it is usually not part of the process like it is with the Cubs. they put Morel and Mervis in AAA to see if they had something and will bring them up if they don't. It's just not a good process. I think they are a vastly improved team compared to the last few years in terms of having actual MLB players (minus Hosmer), but they are still going into seasons as a work in progress and proclaiming it as a virtue not a deficit.
  6. There is no margin for error for Ross. He has to be near perfect in his decision-making for this team to win consistently. It's not an excuse for Ross, but he's been put in this position by the front office. No one is perfect, so every mistake is going to be magnified. Hindsight is what it is. Nevertheless, frustrating.
  7. horsefeathering Ross always waits too long to take his starters out.
  8. I have 0 faith in Smyly. He’ll probably throw 6 scoreless.
  9. The Cubs have not been very good at evaluating talent and developing talent. Evaluating is probably more critical than developing, but that's important too. It's like the pitch lab, they're trying to squeeze out every ounce of talent so a guy can be a usable bullpen arm. Well done!, but what's the point? Couple that with hardly ever wanting to pay for "the guy" in free agency, and when they do they get burned. The Cardinals excel at evaluating and developing talent. And they are even better at knowing which guys to castoff and which to keep when they do make it. They are better at evaluating ML talent in free agency, and they aren't afraid to pay. I think Tommy Boy has his own Tommy Boy in Jed. They are of one mind and I don't think it bodes well for Cubs fans but bodes well for both Tommys.
  10. Now they’re 1-1-1 in each of the 54s. They won one, had a what could have been loss, and a hide the kids this is ugly loss.
  11. I didn’t really think the rankings matter to a large degree, but production and development do matter. Does anyone think if somehow the Cardinals had PCA and we had Walker the situation would be the same? Walker would be AA with a ton of potential and a 35% K rate. PCA would be Jim Edmonds’ illegitimate child manning CF in St. Louis.
