    There is no way to separate Jed from the Ricketts. They are one and the same. Tom loves the luxury tax because he was one of the main architects of it and he can use it as an artificial ceiling. So that should be the line, but as we've seen, it's not; they may go over, but not for long, and they will be way under more than they ever will be over. Tom and the sibs believe the best way to build a team is to grow it from the farm. And they don't want to "pay for past accomplishments", I hate them, and it is what it is, as they say.

    The Dodgers stacked their team with pitchers and then let them take months off with "injuries," and everyone is fresh for the playoff run. Cheat code, unlocked.

    Looks like Clase's playing career is over. How many millions of dollars has he made, and how much did he make by spiking a pitch or two? It's insane.

    Come on. If they (or any team) is facing playoff caliber pitching their offensive number are going to dip.

    It is for real, but we don't know if the numbers are correct. It's obnoxious. Tommy Boy and the Sibs are using the Cubs to finance their building projects around Wrigley.

    They need a functional bench and a lockdown reliever or two. Those are the hardest to find and least reliable commodities in baseball. It looked to me that they wore down as the season progressed and management wasn't comfortable enough to give days off to guys who needed it. It's a frustrating sport that only seems to be getting more frustrating as the owners collectively prepare for the next strike or lockout, aiming to grab even more of the pie.

    Have you looked at his last three seasons before this one?

    They gots bills to pay. They own a sportsbook that can't make any money, a hotel that is mostly empty, a political "movement" to support, and Wrigley bills. More money means more problems.

    Oh, if only more people would realize that. The data are the data; the further away from the actual performance you move, whether it be through math or opinion, the further you are away from objective reality. We see it all the time here. When you "normalize" data, you are taking out essential variables that cannot be normalized. It makes comparison easier, but it's also not real (it's hypothetical). Treating it like it is real is a type I error. But most people do not have a grounding in statistics or math and gobble up the values as if they are facts. Don't get me started on using ordinal measures as data.

    I want a moratorium on any Happ trade conversations starting now. He's not getting traded. The Cubs love him; he loves the Cubs. End. Of. Story.

    Is stale a thing in prospects? OWNKC, Alcantara, and to a lesser extent, Mo Baller have nothing to prove in AAA. They have to either let them play or trade them. They are on the razor's edge of contention with the current team configuration and things can go south quickly. It's obvious baseball is not Shaw's top priority; they can deal him as well. They will need to pick a direction and head that way, balls out. Whatever direction they choose, there is no chance they will get in a bidding war for Tucker with the Mets and Yankees.

    They are going to get better. I don’t hate the Brewers like I do the Cardinals. And I admire them more. Unfortunately the lesson PTR and the kids will learn isn’t the correct one. I don’t see them signing a big ticket SP or Bergman. I see them having a quiet off season finding bargain and reclamation projects.

    Momentum is only as good as the day's pitching. The things that the Brewers do well are the things that Cubs pitchers also do well. They don't strike out much and put the ball in play. That is right up our alley. I do really like our chances so long as the Cubs pitchers can limit damage.

    I'd love for the Cubs to win this next game, but for me, the season has officially become a success.
