  1. They have to be willing to pay the money first. So two things can be true but only one of them were
  2. They weren’t gifted anything. There is not a chance in hell the Cubs were in pissing distance of either player for a variety of reasons. The Ricketts are content with playing third fiddle and counting their money.
  3. You have to give him time. The main issue I have with him is accuracy on short routs and timing. Those are mostly mechanical issues. He did not come into a good situation and wasted a year under incompetence.
  4. I’m going from who?, to nice trade candidate, to hang on to this guy. I know it’s just the AFL but hope springs eternal.
  5. That sounds about right. Push for 90 wins and complete for the division (maybe). The Ricketts get to split around 80 million.
  6. I’m at a conference in Orlando and judging by the young ones walking around here, jorts are still in style.
  7. The main advantage, they have better owners and better people running the baseball team. The Yankees are by far the biggest revenue generators in baseball. Propaganda will be coming out from owner friendly writers in greater and greater frequency leading up to next year at this time.
  8. You have to remember that the profits are split five ways.
  9. If you’re going to go out, you might as well do it with a wet fart.
  10. Not stealing signs against the Dodgers.
  11. There is no way to separate Jed from the Ricketts. They are one and the same. Tom loves the luxury tax because he was one of the main architects of it and he can use it as an artificial ceiling. So that should be the line, but as we've seen, it's not; they may go over, but not for long, and they will be way under more than they ever will be over. Tom and the sibs believe the best way to build a team is to grow it from the farm. And they don't want to "pay for past accomplishments", I hate them, and it is what it is, as they say.
  12. The Dodgers stacked their team with pitchers and then let them take months off with "injuries," and everyone is fresh for the playoff run. Cheat code, unlocked.
  13. Looks like Clase's playing career is over. How many millions of dollars has he made, and how much did he make by spiking a pitch or two? It's insane.
  14. Come on. If they (or any team) is facing playoff caliber pitching their offensive number are going to dip.
  15. It is for real, but we don't know if the numbers are correct. It's obnoxious. Tommy Boy and the Sibs are using the Cubs to finance their building projects around Wrigley.
  16. They need a functional bench and a lockdown reliever or two. Those are the hardest to find and least reliable commodities in baseball. It looked to me that they wore down as the season progressed and management wasn't comfortable enough to give days off to guys who needed it. It's a frustrating sport that only seems to be getting more frustrating as the owners collectively prepare for the next strike or lockout, aiming to grab even more of the pie.
  17. I've never heard of Owen Ayers until the AFL.
  18. I'm mentally prepared for having children. - The Bum!
  19. I really hate the end of the baseball season
  20. So bummed about Howard. I know he and Horton are friends.
  21. PTR's message received if the Brewers win: they should spend less money and let their stars walk.
  22. Have you looked at his last three seasons before this one?
