    They have a great run blocking line. They have a better than average pass blocking line. It’s time for Caleb to step up. The wind conditions weren’t optimal yesterday, so we can’t be too hard on him.

    Green Bay has at least two non-Bears losses in their remaining six. Lions probably only have one. I'm not going to make a guess on the Bears. I want to believe, but I can't.

    Good trade for both teams, each has more value and provides more flexibility for the new teams. I'd love to see the Cubs do something similar. My hunch is that Jed is playing for beyond next season, and none of the OF prospects will be traded.

    His #1 claim to fame is that he was so bad in 2003, the Marlins brought up a 19-year-old infielder to play LF.

    Go Broncos! If they win at Yipsi, they will be in the MAC championship.

    They are doing what they should be doing, beating lesser teams and even winning against an equally matched one. I listened to the postgame interviews, and Caleb gave a balanced appraisal of his performance. The needle is definitely north, regardless of what happens on Friday. The Lions and Packers are not much better than the Bears right now, so it should be a fun six-game series to end the year.

    He also doesn't put the ball where it should be often enough, but he's getting better. He's doing exactly what everyone wants him to do. He's learning from mistakes and making incremental improvement. The Bears might not be as good as their record (but they are), but they are getting better. In the NFL, coaching makes a measurable difference.

    They need to give him fewer starts during the course of the season, that's all. Take a page out of the Dodgers' playbook.

    Don't count your chickens. I would not be surprised if in five years the college landscape looks a lot different than now. They could have tiered leagues and divisions with no conferences.

    I wish I could get into hockey. I used to love playing on the lake and watching games live when I was in college, but I can't get into it when I watch on TV.

    They met with Boras at the winter meetings and likely made a best offer, but it won't be in the ballpark. Looking back on it, if Cam Smith turns into something, it's a wet fart trade.

    I'm sorry I hurt your feelings. You must be ecstatic with an 82-92 win team. You argue that they are good enough. My argument is that they are not good enough. 6th and 4th is quite an accomplishment.

    I don't think Jed and his team are totally incompetent, so I have to believe they factored in the possibility that Shota would take the offer. If this is true, it shouldn't stop them from their plans. In other words, I don't think they'd play chicken with $20M just for a compensation pick.

    "Were" is doing the work there and again, being the tallest four-footer is no great accomplishment.

    They have to get some slugging on this team from somewhere. Ideally, they'd probably like to get via OWNKC, but he's got a lot of K in his game. I don't really buy it until it happens, but it's good to hear they aren't shying away from the top of the pitching market. I'm not convinced that they can thread the needle and break out from a division contender to WS contender.

    According to something I read (not going to link, b/c the site is unreliable), the Cubs are inching closer to an extension with PCA in the neighborhood of $100M.

    It's fun to acknowledge the serendipity of these wins, but it's good to be on the other side for a bit. They should beat the Steelers and the Browns. The other games are a toss-up at best. I'm going to enjoy the moment.

    I might be a little high and a little high on the Bears, but they finally dumbed themselves into a real coach. It’s coaching that changed this team.
