  1. Horton hasn’t missed a beat.
  2. The defense is supposed to be the weak part of the team?
  3. Yes, it's about current results, not future performance forecasts. Same thing with Bellinger, stay hot. But I want the Cubs to have no part in his next contract.
  4. get him in the "taking ground balls lab" this winter.
  5. If Smyly can turn back the clock to April and May for one game, I hope it is tonight.
  6. Made is the one that may haunt the Cubs. Hertz is a future relief pitcher if he can learn to throw a strike. I think Nelly will be bumping around the majors for quite a while. Hopefully, he doesn't become a Cub killer.
  7. I think the Mets are smart here. They went for it hard, it didn't work, and now they've used their financial advantage to get more talent in the system. Some people are speculating that this means that they are out on Ohtani. I think just the opposite is the case. He may be a big part of the re-tool. He may not want to go to the East Coast though.
  8. I'm really happy that they are playing meaningful games after the trade deadline! Go Cubs. This season kind of reminds me of 1998.
  9. This is a little bit damned if he do damned if he don’t. I think they did about as much as they should’ve. however, I don’t have high hopes for them spending big in FA. They’ll spend to around the LT bit will not go over it again.
  10. By design. The extra wildcard is going to make this occur more frequently. lol, all the Cubs really did is clean up their 40-man a little and maybe save a couple hundred thousand.
  11. Ross says Candelario will play more 1st than 3rd for the Cubs.
  12. i should have bet someone.
  13. Mets buying prospects for ten's of millions of dollars. Not dumb if you don't mind spending the money.
  14. Brisby is the best Grant Brisbee: Rich Hill is old enough to have thoughts and opinions on Mr. Roper versus Mr. Furley. He played the original Star Wars arcade game and marveled at how futuristic the graphics looked. He’s worn at least one Hypercolor T-shirt in his life, and he’s recorded mix tapes directly from the radio on his boombox. But he can still spin it. Have curveball, will travel.
  15. Verlander was traded to the Astros.
  16. It kind of sounds like they are trying to find enough cash to make a bigger trade and not go over the luxury tax.
  17. I agree. They made this trade for two reasons 1) to free up some cash and 2) to free up the 40 man. I don't know if the cost is in line with the benefit, but relievers appear to be a dime a dozen.
  18. just because games fall in a line, doesn't automatically make the ones at the end more important. I suppose it's all pretty subjective, but still
  19. That's some kind of logic. I'll put it this way, it may not be a "must" win situation, but it certainly puts more leverage on the rest of the games this season when they aren't playing a team in their division that is directly in front of them. Maybe not a must-win from the academic definition, but very important still. By your reckoning, the only must-win game is the one that eliminates them from the postseason. Make's sense.
  20. If a job happens to open up for him, maybe he'll seize the opportunity. Funnily enough, there is job open for him with the Chicago Cubs.
  21. it's best sometimes if you just do not respond. This is not a LaHair or a Colvin situation. He has more than 1.5 years of solid numbers at both AA and AAA. No matter how much you and your alter-ego want to put him in that box.
