Because you watch and can evaluate this at all. i haven't watched this game, but usually notre dame games are practically unwatchable because hammond/sager are such homers.

i'm not saying that fontenot is extremely valuable or anything, but almost any team in baseball would have a place on their roster for mike fontenot. even if his numbers this year were a fluke, he's still a utility guy who can put up an obp around .350 and an ops around .800. that's pretty good.

Yeah, I was going primarily with currently employed head coaches. Of course, Norv would likely be high on a historically bad list as well. I thought strongly about Cable, but don't have any evidence other than he can't win with these players (probably nobody can) and Al Davis seems to like him. That's some pretty solid evidence against him, but not quite enough for the list. i dunno, "al davis loves him" is pretty damning.

but seriously, it is pretty crazy that a guy who had a line of .260/.311/.365 in mid-june could be a legitimate choice for mvp. i guess a second half of .345/.402/.547/.949 will do that.

and you sound pretty wrong. just sayin and i should add that i take reid's entire body of work into perspective, not just the disappointing last season or two. i understand this may be difficult for someone whose outlook on the cubs changed about 55 times this season - or perhaps more accurately, 55 times each game thread - but that's just how i roll. plus, when you are starting out a post with the sentence "I challenge anyone to name a coach who is worse than Andy Reid" when the likes of rod marinelli, romeo crennel, wade phillips, marv lewis and norv turner are employed as head coaches, you have failed. No he's right. You're an angry, angry man. Defensive too. And you're from Philly to boot, my oh my. if i want anger, all i need to do is read the most recent bears' game thread.

this is giving derwood's "minnesota twins might be the worst organization in pro sports" a run for its money in the "dumbest post of the year" contest. Either that or you just don't watch Eagles games. you got me, i am an eagles fan living in a market that shows just about every eagles game, but i don't watch any of their games. That makes even more sense then. You're biased and in denial about Andy Reid. There really is no other explanation. right, or it could be that you're judging a coach solely on his decisions at the end of close games, which is just a small part of being an nfl head coach. my favorite thing is all the bitching about his calls on short-yardage plays on 3rd or 4th down. for years everyone has been whining that the eagles can't get over the hump because they can't run the ball when they need to grind down the clock or convert on short yardage situations. they complain that reid is too pass happy. now this year, he runs the ball on 4th and goal from the 1, or 4th and short from midfield late in the game, and everyone complains that he's going away from the strength of his team. can't have it both ways, idiots.

the one that was caught with no feet in bounds? the guy's toe landed in bounds, then the heel came down out of bounds. i don't think that should count as a catch, but it was ruled a catch in penn state's 2005 loss to michigan. i have no idea if that's the right call, but i've seen it reviewed and upheld before. i think you might be wrong on the illegal batting penalty too. by the way, you know notre dame is lousy when they need to bitch about the refs (and insinuate that the refs were trying to get a team a win, which is even more mind-boggling) to justify a close win over navy.
