  1. denver had better beat buffalo at home this week, if they don't they have to win at san diego next week in a game for the division. nice to see you guys start playing well in week 16, norv.
  2. the browns and bengals have combined to pass for 123 yards today.
  3. well if the lions were gonna win a game, this would've been the one to win. they're going 0-16.
  4. hope you guys lose your next game.
  5. howry was type A because he was very good from 2005-07. i don't see any way that marquis could be classified as being among the top 20 percent of starting pitchers in major league baseball. he'll probably squeeze into type b.
  6. abreu is a downright bad option IMO. his power and speed have been disappearing and he's a bad fielder at this point in his career. i don't even know that you'd get better than average production out of him, overall, and you'd have to give him a decent sized contract. if bradley can stay healthy, even 3/4 of the time, i'd definitely go with him. i think he'll be cheaper than dunn and be more productive (because he can be an average defender, whereas dunn is terrible in the field). i think the biggest positive for dunn is that he has always raked in wrigley.
  7. not negate, but certainly make his impact less positive than you'd think given the OPS. he most likely would be about 30 runs above average at the plate but then be 15 runs below average in left field (even worse if he's in right).
  8. i thought he retired like 3 years ago
  9. Favre will as well - which may be deserved. The Jets sucked last year and Favre has come in and now they're decent. oh come on. to be fair, dew is actually john madden.
  10. i'm half aroused by that sample page
  11. he's definitely one of the fattest people i've ever seen on a football field
  12. They are playing on January 1...conceivably Hazelton could give Penn State a lot of information if he transferred before then. Although I'm not sure how you guys know Carroll isn't letting Hazelton go to Penn State. What in the article says that? Maybe he just wants to go to Mizzou? he can give penn state a lot of information right now, as long as he owns a telephone or computer. I'll take outrageously flimsy reasoning for $800, Alex. you're the one with terrible reasoning. are you suggesting that he's not releasing him from his scholarship because he could give info to penn state? he's not on the usc football team any more; there's absolutely nothing stopping him from giving penn state inside info about usc, unless carroll is holding him in a jail cell through new year's day. Are we really going to have a discussion about why a player would be more inclined to give information to a team he's transferring to than a team he's not transferring to? It's not rocket science. if hazelton really wants to go to penn state, and carroll won't let him, that's probably going to piss off hazelton quite a bit and he'll give penn state to screw over his spiteful former coach. it's not rocket science.

  14. so which schools, basically any school that has a decent chances of contending for a conference or national title in the next 3 years? most usc guys aren't going to want to transfer to indiana or vanderbilt.

  16. well that's pretty crappy of carroll; it's not like penn state is a rival of usc.
  17. that doesn't make any sense, carroll can't control where he goes. maybe they're willing to let him play next year if he goes to certain schools but not if he goes to penn state?
  18. Any team can beat any team in any sport on any given night. wait, does this mean that, say, the los angeles lakers can beat my flyers in a game of hockey? or that my college swim team can possibly beat the new york giants in football?
  19. if lowe is in line for $63M over 4 years, count me out. if it's closer to $12M and 3 years or something, that's a lot more reasonable. lowe has always been healthy and relies heavily on ground balls; even though he's heading into his mid-30s he doesn't need velocity as much as a lot of other pitchers, so i wouldn't worry too much about his age.
  20. you need to post more, rawdog
  21. shocking that badnews has a negative take on this signing. Shocking that someone decided to try and be cute by pointing this out. Boo hoo. I don't blindly support crap like Milton Bradley and Joey Gathright. I don't buy into people lying to themselves about this 25th man on the roster pinch runner nonsense or his defense. Give me something positive to work with here and then let's see what happens, until then, you can bitch and moan about my negativity all you want, the Cubs pursue stupid avenues and I'm going to be negative. The Cubs pursue wise avenues and I will be positive. I know. Rocket science. If I'm not positive enough for you point the finger at Jim Hendry, not me. so milton bradley and joey gathright are no good... feel free to suggest good alternative solultions. people/baseball publications that think joey gathright isn't a particularly good defender: badnews people/baseball publications that think joey gathright is a very good defender: everyone else
  22. shocking that badnews has a negative take on this signing.
  23. ok so to recap? (since i haven't been paying attention): -sam fuld is weirdly dominating the league -ascanio is doing okay -mathes is still way, way too hittable -guzman has been lousy -rich hill probably is done because he still can't throw strikes.
  24. well after being in such dire straits earlier in the season that they had to keep an 18 year-old late first round draft pick around to play defense, the flyers are in much better shape on defense now. we actually have a logjam with randy jones getting healthy and ryan parent about to be ready as well. the candidates: timonen (clear #1) coburn (#2/3) carle (has been much better than expected and should be in the lineup every day) ossi vaananen (he's been really, really solid. can't imagine that he'd be a guy they'd scratch. glad we brought him back from the elitserien) jones (makes some dumb defensive plays but is a good puck mover) sbisa (18 years old, plays at a higher level than i would've expected, but he's still not big enough for the nhl and makes the usual boneheaded defensive mistakes that a teenager would normally make) alberts (very little offensive game; made some terrible plays defensively after coming over but has been pretty solid lately) kukkonen (hasn't played that well this year, and stevens hates him anyway) parent (could stay in the AHL for a time) i guess i would go: timonen-coburn carle-vaananen jones-sbisa/alberts keep parent in the ahl unless he is playing great down there, and rotate sbisa and alberts since playing every day seems to be wearing sbisa down.
  25. when people suggest ozzie smith doesn't belong in the hall of fame, they should also step away from the computer, but i see that argument made at least once a month.
