  1. yeah at this point i'm kinda hoping that tennessee gets really dirty under kiffin and they end up getting hammered by the ncaa.
  2. michigan's offense would work a lot better if they had guys who actually shot the three well
  3. you can't just leave out a stat or a skill (walking) because you don't think he's going to be that good at it. if he's going to be a poor or average obp guy then that should be weighed in.
  4. fortunately i have been a philly/cubs fan long enough to know how this one would turn out.
  5. i'm wondering if the eagles will actually go after a #1 wide receiver after watching yet another #1 tear them a new one on sunday. to be fair, they really tried hard to get randy moss and larry fitzgerald last offseason.
  6. the big game? are you afraid that the nfl will come after you for using the term "super bowl"?
  7. yes, but al davis wasn't completely senile back then.
  8. i just wish the eagles' defense had played better. people will talk about mcnabb and reid failing again in the postseason, but the defense played terribly today. i can't really complain much because they won some big games for the eagles down the stretch, but they were relying on being a very good defense and when that stopped being the case, they were probably going to lose. fortunately i've heard this song from the flyers, cubs and eagles enough so that i didn't get my hopes up or even expect to win - i did pick the cardinals after all. would've been nice if the ref hadn't missed the easy PI call... at least the end of the game would've been interesting.
  9. 5 conference championship games in 8 years, WHAT A BUM. hopefully they fire his ass and hire all those better coaches that are available. Gruden and Shannahan? are they better? i don't know. i guess they won a super bowl so they must be.
  10. maybe, but both teams play one, maybe two day games a week. evenings are probably great up there, not much humidity and temperatures in the 60s and 70s.

  12. Nothing to do with the west coast this time. These games are set in stone every year. they don't start until 3 because of the west coast.
  13. That could be hell in early April if its a long winter and will be hell in the summer when it's 90 degrees with 95 percent humidity. that would be quite the dewpoint. minneapolis isn't that bad in the summer. minneapolis has an average high of 83 in july; they only hit 90 five times in july 2008. it's also not that humid in the summer because they're so far from the biggest source of humid air (gulf of mexico). of course it can get humid and unpleasant outside but their worst days are pretty much like every day in miami and atlanta, and most of their games will be played at night anyway. i actually would guess that summer is probably quite pleasant in minnesota.
  14. portland, utah and san antonio have only one franchise in the major sports leagues, and they all draw well and have loyal followings. memphis, on the other hand, is a terrible franchise and draws poorly. if a bunch of white mormons in the middle of nowhere can get behind the jazz then i don't see why oklahoma city can't be successful. i don't know for sure that they'll succeed but i certainly can't say that they'll fail.
  15. Yeah, it's funny how ERA+ is thrown around as an "advanced" stat just because it's normalized. Garland regression will be fun, especially as Steve Phillips and John Kruk wonder what happened to such a wonderful pitcher. This would be a good time to remind everyone that Kruk's BALL+ rating is 50. he's not as good as he was during his best season but he's not as bad as he was last season. he's basically in the jeff suppan, jason marquis mold - back end starters who stay healthy, eat up innings, don't strike out many guys and, BABIP fluctuations aside, are basically league average.
  16. holy cross beat bucknell on the road. we've now proven that we're better than the three worst patriot league teams. go us!
  17. i guess that's true if you're assuming that he is as good as his worst year (2008)
  18. okay the sixers just blew out atlanta on the road, then portland and san antonio at home. what the hell is going on? also, marreese speights has been awesome this year without anybody noticing. he's #1 among rookies in hollinger's PER stat by a large margin, because he's averaging 8 PPG and 4 RPG in only 15.6 minutes per game. he'll probably lose playing time when brand comes back because they're basically the same player, but he looks like a nice pick in the mid to late 1st round.
  19. i'm expecting a gruden to get a lot of interest, very quickly. are there any high-profile college jobs still open?
  20. lol, at least you're taking it well. any less of a reaction (from an Illini fan) would be cause for suspicion. frankly, I'm surprised he didn't somehow blame Ed Hightower for this frankly, i'm surprised that i've never said anything about ed hightower on this board, ever. but i know that truffle has. yeah, about a bad call he made during a purdue-northwestern game.
  21. in the sec that's code for "pays well and doesn't get caught"
  22. lol, at least you're taking it well.
  23. please, everyone knows plaschke is a hack who is just out to get usc. all you guys are haters.
