  1. does memphis have any good players left to give to the lakers?
  2. what happened? I didn't see the play but he ran all the way across the court to the get in the refs face. It took a while to eject him but finally an assistant helped him off, then as he was going into the tunnel he turned around and sprinted back to the scorers table. two assistants and a security guard led him out. Just goes to show you apples don't bounce very well. what
  3. Rehabbing a knee injury, I think. for two years?
  4. oh congrats to wisconsin on their 6th loss in a row.
  5. you know its a big ten game when both teams are shooting over 50% from the field and the final score for each team is still in the mid 60s.
  6. i looked up jody gerut's stats to see if maybe he'd been beating up on minor league pitching in 2006-07 and that's why pecota liked him - no stats. what the hell was he up to?
  7. i had to look this up for myself because i thought you must have made a mistake.
  8. http://blog.seattlepi.nwsource.com/baseball/archives/160872.asp oh right... in other words, if the mariners could find someone else to take on the expensive trash that their former idiot GM signed, then they could sign bobby abreu. good luck dumping any of those guys... if the cubs have to eat money to get rid of jason marquis then the m's are going to have to eat like 80% of those contracts.
  9. For me it's not anger, just a little frustration because I would very much like the Cubs to begin developing some younger talent rather than trading all of them away. oh i agree with that, but there has been a lot of young talent contributing - soto, fontenot, theriot, a lot of the pitching staff. cedeno was a bum who was never going to be much of anything, and i don't think olson is going to be much either. i don't think the problem is that the cub have been trading away too much young talent, it's that they haven't found and developed young talent properly. most of the young guys they have who don't suck end up on the big club.
  10. alfonso soriano's top 4 pecota comps: don baylor, roy sievers, andre dawson, dusty baker :-)) and ryan theriot's #4 pecota comp is, of course, david eckstein.
  11. fun with pecota: it projects bradley to have a .311 EqA, highest on the team and tied with guys like A-Rod and matt holliday. matt wieters is projected to have the 5th highest EqA in baseball. even i don't think this will come true. cub hitting lines: bradley: 294/402/525 (EqA: .311) soto: 288/370/519 (.297) soriano: 281/348/538 (.294) ramirez: 288/363/509 (.292) fukudome: 286/386/439 (.287) lee: 289/369/464 (.285) -- only 19 HRs hoffpauir: 261/327/489 (.273) fontenot: 278/356/440 (.273) theriot: 283/359/350 (.256) johnson: 276/337/405 (.256) gathright: 266/337/312 (.247) miles: 280/327/335 (.238) bako: 234/310/332 (.221) others of interest: edmonds: 265/363/491 (.288) derosa: 269/354/414 (.275) pie: 274/333/435 (.263) cedeno: 262/316/385 (.242) blanco: 242/289/344 (.216) so as long as the cubs play mostly fontenot at 2B, pecota doesn't think there will be much drop off from derosa, purely at that position.
  12. yeah of course the cubs, a wealthy organization that can spend freely on the draft, lets a sure thing fall through their hands so they can draft a high school hitter, even though they have as bad a record of developing high school hitters as any organization in the game. fail.
  13. oh and wow on pecota's matt wieters boner. it's like i wrote the software myself.
  14. kill me now.
  15. hasn't pecota been projecting zambrano to have an ERA over 4.00 for years now? i guess they were pretty close the last couple of years. they've got zambrano, dempster and lilly (and marshall too) in the low 4's, which would make for a fine rotation. pecota HATES samardzija but it probably has no idea what the hell to do with him.
  16. yeah i think marshall should be the #5. heilman has been a pretty good reliever in the past; i'd like to see him stay in the bullpen and then when harden/zambrano get hurt he can do some starting. wuertz should be in the bullpen but lou hates him, so who knows.
  17. hahahahahahah Did you have Kerry Fraser? no, i didn't catch the guy's name. it was HORRIBLE, he freaking threw doughty to the ice with his free hand and the puck was right god damn there, a few feet away. they HAD to be watching. how both of them missed it is baffling. apparently it was marc joanette and stephane auger. joannette is pretty bad. i actually like kerry fraser. don koharski has been terrorizing the league for 25 years. mccreary is also a joke. i think mick "mister" mcgeough finally retired; that guy was also notoriously inept. eric furlatt is an up-and-coming idiot, and kevin pollock might be the worst ref in the league right now.
  18. milton bradley's numbers are bonerific. i'd take a .359 obp out of theriot also. and at this point i'd gladly take 286/386/439 from fukudome.
  19. better get used to it as long as beilein is there.
  20. Well his nose got broke so I'm pretty sure he did get hit and wasn't flopping. I don't know how all of you can say he flopped when his nose got broke. That tends to make people fall to the ground. Harris shouldn't have been booted though. I could see a technical maybe, but not booted. I can't see anything. Harris was doing something every basketball player in the history of mankind has done when facing tough defense and Kramer had his face in the wrong spot. Absolutely ridiculous. really it doesn't matter. michigan struggles to create offense against good teams, purdue plays great defense, and it was in west lafayette. michigan was going to lose anyway.
  21. holy cross beat lehigh on the road to go to 6-1 in conference. pomeroy had this as a 50/50 game so it's a good win, i think. we've now played all the teams once and will make our second go-round starting next saturday at lafayette. they're bad but it's no gimme; then come home games against army and bucknell, both of whom are wretched. the big one will be at american on february 21st; the winner of that likely gets home court for the PL tourney.
  22. i'd rather give ken hitchcock the jack adams.
  23. Such a hater. That was such a beautiful win. I loved every second of it. Devils, baby. yeah you guys should get even better once brodeur comes back. or it won't matter because you play a strict defensive system in front of the goalie and whoever is in net is made to look great. hopefully for brent sutter's sake you guys get the top seed in the east, otherwise lou lamoriello might fire him with 2 games left in the regular season and take over for the playoffs. You think Brodeur is gonna be as sharp when he comes back? I wonder if they'll send him to a couple games in the minors. I actually like the Devils (I know, shame on me being a Rangers fan). why not just latch onto the caps and bruins while you're at it, you'll have most of the eastern conference favorites to root for then.
  24. Such a hater. That was such a beautiful win. I loved every second of it. 25. give it to greg oden, he'd be the best player in the big ten if he hadn't left for the nba two years ago.
