  1. Yawn. It's a road game, Big Ten homering is brutal. Maybe they do things differently in the Patriot league, but you'd be hard pressed to find a Big Ten fan not agree that road teams get hosed. Find me the ref complaints on games in Champaign. i'll be sure to find some ref complaints in a game in champaign this upcoming week
  2. I don't trust him to ever stay healthy outside of a bullpen role. i don't trust him to ever stay healthy in a bullpen role either, but that's probably his best shot at doing so.
  3. the big ten needs to do an investigation; i am sick and tired of illinois getting screwed by the refs every game. this has to stop!!!
  4. wow wrigley23 wasn't kidding about sosa's head doubling in size!
  5. holy cross lost at home to wretched bucknell :x
  6. he was worth $5M in the previous years combined. of course nobody is going to give willie harris $15M this offseason because he's very unlikely to repeat his performance last year (which i'm pretty sure wasn't worth $14.6M, but whatever).
  7. Not that Ryan Leaf was a good pick, but I'm pretty sure he was the second overall pick not the #1 pick. Not to defend Ryan Leaf or anything but he had all the physical tools to be a successful player in the NFL he just turned out to be a moron. He is a large reason they have huge psych evaluations for players specially quarterbacks now. He was truly the consensus #2 player behind Peyton Manning. SD just got unlucky and well maybe should have done a little more evaluations outside of the football field. yeah but ability to think is really, really important when you play quarterback. they should have been doing those evaluations on qb's all along. if you're drafting a qb just because he's big and throws the ball hard, you're a moron. you can have a dunce at running back - just turn around, give him the ball and watch him run. but i think people knew back in the '90s that decision-making was an important quality for a quarterback to possess.
  8. the value of mlb franchises has increased by over 150% since 1998, and since 1993 mlb's annual revenue has increased by more than 500%. look at those numbers - keeping in mind that bud selig is hired by the owners - and tell me why his job would be in jeopardy.
  9. thank God the Cubs really showed them who's boss. by getting swept out of the playoffs two years in row.
  10. it's fun to look at that list and see how many guys the cubs obviously should've picked instead of the guys they actually did pick.
  11. don't most prospect lists have vitters in their top 50?
  12. eckstein isn't bad considering that he's a shortstop. what's not to love about that 88 career OPS+? OPS+ weights OBP and SLG equally, which is dumb, so i'd suggest you stop using OPS+ as your primary argument. over the course of his career he has an OBP that's 15 points above the league average. basically over the course of his career he's been right around league-average with the bat, and an average defensive shortstop.
  13. If the question is whether I would rather have Aaron Miles, Milton Bradley and Aaron Heilman as my 5th starter or Bobby Abreu and Jake Peavy, I think I'd take Abreu and Peavy. it's more like aaron miles, milton bradley and aaron heilman as the 5th starter, or abreu, peavy, and no vitters, marshall, and a couple other prospects.
  14. eckstein isn't bad considering that he's a shortstop.
  15. bp top 100 prospects out today. top 10 plus any cub prospects: 1. Matt Wieters, C, Orioles 2. David Price, LHP, Rays 3. Madison Bumgarner, LHP, Giants 4. Pedro Alvarez, 3B, Pirates 5. Josh Vitters, 3B, Cubs 85. Jeff Samardzija, RHP, Cubs
  16. i agree with him starting out at AAA but once he's there long enough to keep another year on his arby clock, he should be called up.
  17. I watch Mad Men just for her. that woman needs to go outside in the sun for a few minutes. So she can get freckled and burn? She's a redhead. whatever, she's a ghost
  18. what just in case he dies during spring training?
  19. when he's destroying the american league and people are talking about him every day, this is going to become a problem.
  20. i could definitely see him having more Ding Dongs than soto and patterson this year. in fact i am pretty sure about this.
  21. i like this idea... i'd like to hear more of your thoughts chuck
  22. i love that the first pitch hits the ump right in the mask.
  23. I watch Mad Men just for her. that woman needs to go outside in the sun for a few minutes.
  24. how has nobody found any evidence on bret boone? aside from giambi i think he might have been the most obvious steroid user of all.
