  1. pretty impressive to miss two strike three calls in the same at bat.
  2. nah, it is a great city and there is also a [expletive] load of stuff to do within a half day's drive (wine in napa or sonoma valley, redwoods, santa cruz, monterrey, yosemite). one of my favorite cities in the u.s.
  3. "The one thing I really liked about the 80’s hair band videos that needs to come back..,the one recurring motif where the bands that would rock so [expletive] hard they could change the physical properties of things! Like they would blow holes in the walls with their rocking, or go up to your shitty Honda Civic and go ‘squibbidy doo!” and all of the sudden it’s a sleek Lamborghini! Like: 'Hey! Thanks, Night Ranger!' " --Patton Oswalt
  4. yeah i guess it is silly to feel bad for a person making more than $20 million a year, but it must be pretty damn depressing to have previously been one of the best on earth at your craft, and now pretty much be a gas can.
  5. (a) the cubs are .251/.343/.415/.758 in those situations this year, so they execute kind of at a rate consistent with their non-runner-on-third situations. (b) the cubs have scored 6 runs a game this month, so maybe give it a rest for once. Wasn't being serious at all. you can understand why we have a hard time giving you the benefit of the doubt.

  8. thank God we have sontensei here to tell us how the guy who's 15th among MLB position players in WAR, as a rookie, should be doing some things differently.
  9. third in WAR among major league 3B in his rookie season. not bad.
  10. How are the Nationals below .500 and how does Matt Williams still have a job?
  11. weren't some people wringing their hands about him early on? turns out he can hit.
  12. geraldo concepcion, juan paniagua, rob zastryzny: bad.
  13. BUNTING also he vehemently defended dusty baker for having harang throw 50 pitches in a long extra inning game 2 days after he'd thrown 100+ pitches in a start.
  14. agreed. probably best to just skip the next two months altogether.
  15. can any of our guys bunt? drop some bunts down the first base line toward miggy's fat ass.
  16. if you count the first pitch (also a ball called a strike), rizzo should have walked there.
  17. i know it's probably a player's instinct to run when there's an overthrow, but they have to know that the foul ground behind first base is tiny at wrigley.
  18. i'm impressed at how consistently wrong he is, yet he continues to passionately believe in his opinions.
  19. jason hammel's career second half numbers: 1.46 WHIP, 5.11 ERA.
  20. haren gave up 3 home runs in 4.2 innings; i wouldn't give him too much credit.
  21. happ has tripled, homered and walked. third homer in four games.
  22. It had Haren in mid 80s so it was likely legit yeesh. with some pitchers, they consistently do really well and when you watch their stuff, you can't figure out how they're so good. with sale it is not hard to understand why he is so awesome.
  23. is that gun running hot or was sale legitimately sitting 97-99 that inning?
