two of them are outfielders and one is an atrocious fielder anywhere. the cubs don't need outfield help. plus let it go on dubois, he's AAAA. do we need to call him up and watch him not hit again? but yeah, freel sucks and is overpaid, so this would be a terrible idea. i don't really believe it unless the orioles ate a bunch of money.

jerry manuel's cap brushed an umpire's cap last night basically in the same way that milton's did, so we'll see what comes of that. if manuel doesn't get suspended then there's really no excuse for milton to be suspended.

i think red sox and cleveland fans who are still big fans of manny can feel cheated. but if they don't really feel any connection to him, then who cares? they got his best years and he wasn't suspended for any of them. the dodgers thought they were getting a full year of him on one of the best teams in the NL, and now he has to miss almost a third of the season because he cheated.

I mentioned this in the Baseball Discussions thread but didn't want to totally thread-jack it. Someone in one of my leagues dropped Manny today, and I have the #1 waiver option. The league has 5 bench spots. Currently I have: C Mike Napoli 1B Carlos Pena 2B Ian Kinsler 3B Garrett Atkins SS Jimmy Rollins OF Matt Kemp OF Andre Ethier OF Raul Ibanez Util Orlando Hudson BN Mike Cameron BN Justin Upton DL A-Rod SP Derek Lowe SP Scott Kazmir RP Brad Lidge RP Ryan Franklin P Brad Ziegler P Dan Haren P J.J. Putz BN Max Scherzer BN Jose Valverde (only 1 DL spot) BN Ervin Santana (only 1 DL spot) Santana and A-Rod will be back relatively soon, and I'll throw valverde on the DL. My offense is already pretty beastly, but shouldn't I use my waiver claim on manny, and stash him on the bench? O-Dog is playing over his head so he'll be mainly bench later in the year. my whole OF has been really good and someone stupidly gave up on upton so i grabbed him recently, but I figure an OF in the 2nd half of Manny, Kemp, and two of Ethier, Upton and Ibanez would be pretty great. Thoughts? And anyone else have manny dropped in their league?

so someone in one of my fantasy leagues dropped manny today and i have the #1 waiver spot - i have to pick him up and stash him on the bench, right? i have 5 bench spots.

as i was saying - no presumption of innocence. and yeah, i'm not going to hate on pujols for watching home runs to long since aramis and soriano do the same thing and Z acts like a petulant 5 year old at times.

I'm pretty sure the current one is 50/100/life keener's probably thinking of the original steroid policy, which was: 1st offense: lose hot tub privileges 2nd offense: mean letter from commissioner's office 3rd offense: stern face to face talking-to by bud selig. 4th offense: 1 game suspension 5th offense: 2 game suspension ... 500th offense: permanent ban from baseball.

i do operate with an assumption of innocence in a lot of cases. just not in baseball. too many of the great players were juicing, and too many names have been floated out there, for me to assume that anybody is clean. f.p. santangelo was cheating, the guy was built like ryan theriot. i'm not saying i assume that everyone is cheating. i do assume that some of them are, and some are not, and that i don't know who is clean and who isn't. i don't really think about it during baseball games, and i can respect and admire the things done on the baseball field regardless of whether the players involved had some "help" in achieving what they did. barry bonds was a cheater but putting up an OPS above 1.300 for 4 years is ridiculously amazing, even if he was taking enough steroids to turn himself into the incredible hulk.

Seriously though, Pujols is probably the most prolific non-steroidal offensive force any of us have seen in our lives. His numbers are just disgusting. Thats quite the assumption Not really. everyone was calling a-rod the greatest "clean" hitter of the generation until his name was leaked. i don't think there's an assumption of innocence for anybody. it wouldn't shock me if pujols is/was cheating. it wouldn't shock me if he's clean.

yeah scola definitely embellished that. what kenyon martin did to nowitzki was dirtier than either the kobe play or the fisher play, IMO, and martin just got a fine.

I think most posters finally got fed up with the game threads and decided to never go in there. The lack of Cubs talk in general is appaling. When I click "View New Posts", the majority of posts are non-baseball related. well fortunately most of the people who ruined game threads seem to have disappeared (along with everyone else)

their pitch counts were below 100 and they were pitching well, that probably had a lot to do with it. but yeah, especially tonight, you should take your glass-armed starter out after 7 effective innings and go to whoever to finish it out. it's a 6-1 lead, i don't care how much you don't trust cotts or guzman or fox or whoever, even the back of your bullpen will close it out 95% of time.

Pudge will just realize how washed up he is? sadly, a mostly washed up pudge is probably still an upgrade from brad ausmus and j.r. towles.
