  1. come the hell on, this lineup sucks. the cleanup hitter is LAYNCE NIX.
  2. He sucks but the inning was screwed up when Scales popped out. maybe, but it would be nice to see soriano get a big hit so that he doesn't end the year with 32 HR and 68 RBI.
  3. does vitters stand on the plate? in his first AB he got hit for the 8th time this season.
  4. God forbid you hit a double with the bases loaded rather than with them empty. i don't know if clutch players exist or not, but soriano's career stats would certainly argue that he is anti-clutch.
  5. Seriously, a trade needs to happen soon. This ownership nonsense is hurting us so badly right now. i don't know if it's that or if they really do plan on treading water until aramis gets healthy and hoping that nobody runs away with the division.
  6. little known fact, fred attended that game as a teenager.
  7. Believe it or not, the thing that finally got him onto my ignore list was his sig. I can deal with potential idiocy in every post... even cubswin2009 doesn't manage it every single time. A stupid sig guarantees it though. if we all put cyno on our ignore lists, we can make the world a better place.
  8. After a shocking extra inning win and a one-run save by the much-maligned kevin gregg, the cubs try to make it two in a row as they face the braves in the third and final game of the series. the starters are carlos zambrano (3-2, 4.22 ERA) for the cubs: http://www.theonion.com/content/files/images/cubs.jpg versus jair jurrjens (5-2, 2.59 ERA) for the braves: http://collateral.jezebelmagazine.com/FileLibrary/events/MostEligible2008/JairJurrjens_profile.jpg unhappy with their performance in the first to games of the series, the braves have made some big changes to the starting lineup: 1. Glenn Hubbard, 2B (weirdest baseball card ever???) http://www.curveballcity.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/glenn-hubbard-card.jpg 2. Bob Horner, 3B (way to rock that stache) http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_L5aU9SvCApI/R8TJu65vDQI/AAAAAAAAE1k/DAnww-jUTKk/s320/Bob+Horner+is+THE+MAN.jpg 3. 9. how many walks this inning for marmol? i say 2.
  10. the one he hit at 0:45 or so was a bomb.
  11. okay, now it's my turn for real! after an epic fail of a loss, the Cubs/Cobs try to rebound with serial killer Ted Lilly on the mound, with a record of 6-4 and a 3.50 ERA. http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r122/PhxSuns13/output.gif http://www.straitpinkie.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/32.jpg The Braves counter with famed ground ball artist and Boston drinking expert Derek Lowe, who's 6-3 with a 3.49 ERA. He is seen here with the classic "Derek Lowe" face, probably during 2001 as he blew 75 saves for the Red Sox. http://graphics2.jsonline.com/graphics/sports/brew/img/oct03/lowe1009.jpg The likely lineup for the Braves: 1. CF Otis Nixon http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_drUMJ9HF-tQ/RsyND5VLFII/AAAAAAAAAEs/SATCsat8PVQ/s320/Otis.jpg 2. 1B Sid Bream http://www.kishelscents.com/images/07-Ohio-BuckSidBream.jpg 3. SS Rafael Ramirez (pictured in an embarrassing moment with Glenn Hubbard) http://www.checkoutmycards.com/CardImages/Cards/024/464/02F.jpg 7. 2B Mark Lemke (pull the hat down, buddy!) http://www.hollywoodcollectibles.com/autographed/memorabilia/sports/collectibles/authentic/Cards/Mark_Lemke_Auto_Card_mid.jpg 8. 12. unlike carpenter he wasn't pitching well.
  13. as someone mentioned in the game thread, lou overmanages ALL THE TIME, yet the one time he should issue a walk he pitches to him. lou's bad in-game decisions and running off good pitchers like wuertz were easier to take when a significant portion of the team was overachieving and huge strides were being made in OBP. now most of the team is underperforming and the patience is sliding backward, so i'm not really sure what positives lou provides at this point.
  14. eyre is/was bad. His World Series ring is in his ear so he can't hear you that's nice, adam eaton got one too, maybe we should have traded for him.
  15. and a fine decision not walking one of the best hitters in the game. another master job by our fearless leader.
  16. oh nice to see that one team can nibble the corners and get strike calls.
  17. and burning a position player in the process. just terrible.
  18. stupid cobs won't hurry up and lose #-o
  19. so we ended up with a failed bunt, a bad-hitting shortstop and a backup catcher in that inning. way to think it through, lou.
