  1. if you weren't an iowa fan you'd agree.
  2. he was banged up and and protecting his shoulder or leg or something. he wasn't nearly productive in that game as he was in other games that year. he was sacked a ton, wasn't he? don't know, he ran for negative yardage though, which probably means a bunch of sacks. dammit tech. there's still a really fun game on espn2 if you haven't gotten your fill of college fb yet, folks.
  3. That's why he's such a great player at the college level. His running the game allows him to be productive as a passer, but without it he has not shown he can come close to that level. Against Georgia a few years ago when he had to be a pocket passer he was essentially useless as a passer. the game they lost 42-30 when he was 14/22 with 236 yards and 1 TD, 0 INT? if anything he was useless as a runner in that game, not a passer.
  4. i find them fascinating, if for no reason than most teams in ncaa are going to passing offenses or the wildcat, while georgia tech has gone to the triple option flexbone. it's kinda fun. and demaryius thomas will probably be the most productive WR on any of the teams. it's gotta be tough to evaluate a WR coming out of this offense, but thomas is a good athlete and a big guy, and he's probably going to be a really good blocker having gotten so much practice at it.
  5. tim tebow must have more open receivers than anyone in the history of college football, because his passing numbers do not jive with your evaluation of him.

  7. I'm pretty sure I agree, only because the Big Ten looks like a giant cluster-eff of four or five decent but not great teams at the top so it'd be only fitting that it be decided like that. i'll stick with my prediction of ohio st winning the big ten. i think they lose once (to penn st), iowa loses at madison and at columbus, we lose at michigan or michigan st, michigan already has two losses, and there's no way that michigan st, northwestern and minnesota win out in the big ten. one team to keep an eye on is wisconsin, because the road games they have left in conference are against bad teams (indiana, northwestern) and their home games are iowa, purdue and michigan. i don't think wisconsin will win out but it's conceivable with that schedule.
  8. i think iowa loses at madison next week, and ohio st loses here (penn st) the week before the iowa game.
  9. good work, iowa fans.
  10. i think it's physically impossible to throw a worse pass than that.
  11. i really didn't like running into the pile there. michigan has time to get into field goal position with a stop there, whereas passing for it on third and manageable (5 yards) ends the game with a first down.
  12. throw the ball on third down, the michigan secondary is atrocious.
  13. i thought this might be meph's new ID until i read the rest of the post.
  14. yeah i've been watching that one too, it's been pretty fun. there also was a delay for about an hour because of lightning.
  15. what you're arguing is that he's not a great passer, which nobody is going to disagree with. you don't have to be a great passer to be a great quarterback, especially at the college level.
  16. i feel like i could throw for 200 yds against michigan's secondary.
  17. meh that looked like a miscommunication.
  18. i really wish iowa had played this bad against us.
  19. nice series there stanzi.
  20. tebow has no idea how to receive a snap from under center sadly this is probably a valid point.
  21. That will be the best schadenfreude ever. This is because most Cards fans don't believe it will ever happen. It would be so delicious if he goes to a team and has a great stretch during which his new team has a lot of success and he goes into the HOF with another team's hat on. i don't think he'll go elsewhere because the cardinals will pay him enough to stay, even if it's $30-35M. they're not a huge market but they're big enough to keep him as long as he doesn't want $40M+ in free agency.
  22. hey when you have a foot to go for first down maybe you should start the quarterback under center instead of 5 yards behind the line of scrimmage.
  23. did that ball really hit the ground on the third down pass? i couldn't really tell... looked like one of those plays where the ruling on the field was going to stand.
  24. lol how do you miss that? you suck.
  25. i suspect that texas will drop to #3 in at least one of the polls. colorado is terrible while ole miss is at least decent, and alabama also has a pretty convincing win over va tech.
