  1. Didn't he get cancer? yeah he died about 5 years ago.
  2. college: syracuse +10 vs wvu illinois +4 vs michigan st (always bet against mich st after the michigan game) purdue +3.5 @ minnesota (purely a contrarian play...intuitively not a fan of this bet) ole miss +6 vs alabama... like this one a lot tennessee -1.5 vs georgia... again counterintuitive. arizona -3 @ washington ucla +6 vs oregon nfl: st. louis +10 vs minnesota (standard "bet against team coming off emotional mnf win) - rams are [expletive] bad though. washington +3.5 @ carolina denver +3.5 vs new england tenn +3.5 vs indy (public gang-bang on indy but line is barely moving) detroit +10.5 vs pitt miami +1.5 vs new york jets
  3. Which reports, I can't find anything. http://collegesportsblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2009/10/osus-dez-bryant-rule-ineligible.html
  4. looks like i'll bandwagon onto the phillies again
  5. if there's anyone that's good with money, it's hammer.
  6. lol i didn't notice that. apparently they haven't taken down the iowa score yet.
  7. http://media.centredaily.com/smedia/2009/10/07/13/100809WIND4.standalone.prod_affiliate.42.jpg wind damage from today.
  8. he might have slumped, but he was worth way more than the $1.4M he was paid this year. he was always a guy who was going to strike out a lot, but would also draw a decent share of walks and hit a lot of home runs if given enough playing time. the only really surprising part about his numbers this year is that someone finally let him bat 500 times.
  9. yeah richards' hat trick goal was a terrible rebound by varlamov. really great game overall. i thought we outplayed them but they're so dangerous in transition... ovechkin forced a turnover from pronger when nothing was happening for them, and boom, five seconds later it's his second goal. we need to get better positionally - the penalty late in regulation was a good example, the caps had the puck in their own zone with nothing going on and one pass later semin is almost on a breakaway and they have to take a penalty to prevent a scoring chance. you have to be ready for that against washington. now we get a day to recover before another must-see battle - this time with pittsburgh. hosting the ducks on saturday night should be a good one as well. they're certainly giving me lots to watch early in the season.
  10. fernando rodney is dominican for kevin gregg.
  11. yeah his numbers this year don't seem all that impressive until you realize that he's been out of high school for 2 years. with that in mind, he's probably one of the 30 most valuable commodities in the game.
  12. yeah it's amazing what a .256 BABIP will do for one's numbers. power pitching is (on average) more successful in the playoffs than soft tossers, and randy wolf is most certainly not a power pitcher. if i'm having a pitcher go twice in this series i sure as hell do not want it to be randy wolf. kershaw and billingsley are both better pitchers than wolf, but alas they are not crafty veterans.
  13. who? i knew who he was, but i was perusing the mlb scoreboard on saturday (i think it was saturday, can't remember) and under toronto home runs it said Lind 3 (35). i was pretty stunned by that.
  14. yesterday penn st got a commitment from khairi fortt, one of the top LBs in the country. apparently he liked georgia a lot but during his recruiting visit there, the players who were supposed to be chaperoning him ditched him, one of those times in the middle of the night. thanks georgia. rivals has our class ranked #5 right now and scout has us at #2. it'd be nice if we can get a DT from philly (sharrif floyd) to round out the class, but he's one of the top 10 recruits in the country and has every big-time school after him, so that will be tough.
  15. still not a fan of his contract but yeah, he was fine.
  16. what do i win for placing in the top 5 for 3 years in a row?
  17. lol
  18. now that is impressive.
  19. tampa bay should be an easy win, then we travel to oakland and should be 4-1 after that game. that's fine but the schedule gets much harder the rest of the way: @washington vs nyg vs dallas @ san diego @ chicago vs washington @ atlanta @ nyg vs san fran vs denver @ dallas
  20. ok cynosure, rename the thread. oh wait he's banned. flyers-caps should be really good tonight.
  21. not just holy cross... #19 holy cross
  22. i'm guessing most people were a little high on the win projections.
  23. I wasn't either. We'd be 4-0 if we had an average offensive line. Aaron Rodgers has been sacked 20 times this year. TWENTY. No kidding, its a joke. their o-line sucks but sometimes he really just needs to throw the ball. when he got safetied in the end zone the blocking wasn't too bad; he held the ball far too long. you can't have third and long from your own one yard line and expect to scramble around for 5 seconds. there was another one of those plays tonight too, i think it was on first down somewhere around the minnesota 35, he had good protection but held the ball way too long and got sacked.
  24. if you'd told me that zobrist and bartlett would have the seasons they had, i probably would've guessed that the rays scored 1000 runs and coasted into the playoffs. adam lind hit 46 doubles and 35 home runs and knocked in 114... where the hell did that come from. heath bell led the NL in saves, and pitched the entire year for the padres (who outperformed their pyth by 9 wins). the twins' starting pitching was much less terrible than i would have expected, especially considering that liriano was awful and slowey went out for the year before the ASB.
