    great scoop on the other end by cuddyer too. twins absolutely have to win this game to have a chance... no way they win if they go home down 2-0.

    fans also wave a [expletive] load of towels when their own pitcher is on the mound trying to close out an inning or a game. in fact there's a lot more towel waving in those situations than when the home team is down to its last out and the bases are empty.

    mauer should and will win it. but jeter winning it wouldn't be near the tragedy you're making it out to be. agreed. i don't like the yankees at all but jeter has been outstanding this season, and if he wins it over mauer, i'll just consider that an evening of the score from when morneau undeservedly beat out jeter in 2006. Mauer should've won it in '06. the only player who had a better year in '06 was sizemore, imo, and the indians weren't good that year.

    the only thing that could make this more delicious is don denkinger unretiring and boning the cards over on a call in the 9th inning to lose the series on saturday.

    agreed. i know the pens will play well tonight after laying a complete egg against phx last night. they're already up 1-0 after a power play goal following a phantom penalty on danny briere (probably assessed by the wildly-inept eric furlatt)
