  1. YES holy cross just sacked lafayette on a 4th and 10, our ball up 2 in their territory with 4 minutes left.
  2. mccluster is basically beating tennessee by himself - 21 carries, 265 yards, 4 td.
  3. i thought ga tech would beat duke but i didn't think they'd beat the hell out of them. now watch tech lose in the acc championship game and some team like clemson makes the bcs.
  4. 28-19 holy cross... very nervous about this game. mostly because holy cross hasn't made the playoffs since before i went there and this is probably their very good qb is done after this year, so this is probably my chance to see it.
  5. hahahaha fumble fumble int fumble int int
  6. down 12-0 to lafayette.... come the hell on holy cross
  7. i feel like everyone is calling him a platoon cf to say that he's not very good. Because he's not. He's a platoon player. They are 3 million dollar type players. Not 7-10 mill. worst post ever? according to fangraphs, he's been worth $76.7 M in the last 4 years, or $19M per year. he blows against lhp, yes, but despite that, his numbers have been right around grady sizemore level with great defense, which makes him one of the best cf in baseball.
  8. why don't we just hand the ball to indiana rather than running plays or returning kicks?
  9. ball four by jim bouton
  10. wow nice job last night kings, getting blown out by the thrashers.
  11. i feel like everyone is calling him a platoon cf to say that he's not very good.
  12. yeah hardly anybody outside the u.s. knows who lebron james is.
  13. maybe he should be platooned most of the time against LHP, but that still gives him about 500 ABs a year. a line of something like .290/.365/.530 with very good defense and baserunning is a hell of a lot better than what we've got going on in CF/RF right now.

  15. http://www.boston.com/sports/colleges/football/articles/2009/11/13/overlooked_qb_leads_holy_cross_revival/ by the way, the holy cross "revival" will probably end this year and we'll go back to being lousy once our nfl prospect qb uses up his eligibility.
  16. Excellent question. Lets go over a short list of teams that could go after Granderson, a very solid center fielder who will be up for a contract soon: Red Sox: They have a solid center fielder in Ellsbury, but could Granderson be a cheaper option for them than Bay or Holliday? Mets: They're looking for another bat. Again, would be cheaper than Bay or Holliday. Braves: They have stated that they want another outfield bat, but they want a righty. Cardinals: Do they have the trade chips left after last season? and of course.... The Yankees: If they choose to let Matsui and Damon go, and not shell out for Bay or Holliday, he could be an option for them. With all the money on their books, they might prefer a trade over another massive contract. The Cubs are right up there. we definitely have the need for a center fielder. Granderson would fit our bill. Hes owed 5.5 mil in 2010, and then goes up to 8.25 in '11 and 10 mil in '12 and then a 13 mil option for '13. I say we go for it. Maybe start with a package like Fontenot, Marshall, Colvin, and a prospect or 2, and see where it goes from there. I don't have a problem with the package deal you suggested because Fontenot, Marshall, and Colvin are extra pieces. In my opinion, giving up young ML players who are a vital part of the team or top positional prospects that we've been waiting for isn't the right route to go for Granderson. that's fine, but you aren't getting him that way. he's a very good player and there's no reason for the tigers to accept mediocrity for him.
  17. is this a joke?
  18. beat lousy ottawa 5-1 tonight... 5 wins in a row and outscored the opposition 24-7 in those games. finally getting on a roll despite a few injuries (gagne, parent, tollefson). van riemsdyk (4g, 11a in 13 games) has been terrific for a 20 year old and pronger (3g, 13a in 15 games) is playing norris-caliber defense. the devils are 13-4 though, and doing a great job of boring everyone into submission.
  19. http://www.fangraphs.com/fantasy/index.php/grandersons-just-fine he's a really good player who had a down year in 2009. i'd trade vitters and theriot for him in about 2 seconds.
  20. you aren't getting granderson without giving up top prospects or someone like marmol. if you can give up theriot for him then by all means do so. but the tigers aren't going to accept a puupuu platter (4 middle of the road prospects) for granderson.
  21. i had no idea andrea bargnani was turning into a good nba player. i guess when you play in toronto you can do that sort of thing without anybody noticing.
  22. o... the canes are terrible. just such a sloppy team. i know they're completely banged up right now but my god. such a bad team right now. i was sure they were a top 5 team in the east too. the kings played an average game tonight and, aside from 10 minutes in the 2nd, completely controlled the game. horrible. yeah i have no idea what has happened to them. although in hindsight this is a pretty lousy defense: Joni Pitkanen/Aaron Ward (Pitkanen injured) Joe Corvo/Niclas Wallin Andrew Alberts/Jay Harrison extras: Tim Gleason, Tim Conboy there's some skating ability there (pitkanen, corvo) but inside their own blue line that group is pretty shaky, and michael leighton sure as hell is not going to bail them out.
  23. very good tools and absolutely no plate discipline or pitch recognition. i think there were rumblings about him being converted to pitcher.
