  1. are those two games the first two of the year? the home games against akron and toledo? way to drop the hammer.
  2. i really hate koyie hill, and it's no fault of his own. he's just a terrible player who has no business being on a major league roster, and our management is unfortunately too incompetent to see this.
  3. i like how the 2004 cubs have been turned into the 1927 yankees in some people's minds. the reason everyone was so high on them was because they had great starting pitching and people associate that with winning in the playoffs. in reality, the 2004 cubs had a mediocre offense with not enough OBP capability and a bullpen that repeatedly blew close games (which they played a lot of, because their offense didn't score enough runs)
  4. not if you're GvilleCub or whatever his name was
  5. That pretty much confirms there's not much of a competition for that spot (which was suspected anyway). If Wells's spot wasn't secured already he's doing a very good job securing it. And Cashner is giving the Cubs no reason to pick him for the 5th spot. I'm not sure who else is, but I doubt they pick Cashner if everybody is terrible. he's pitched four innings.
  6. i've only been here for like 8 months and i already hate [expletive] collingwood.
  7. Some news reports I've seen said he was in the 90's at least. Probably low 90's, but that's still good for him So basically he got his velo back or close to it... Prior was a low 90s guy who could touch 94-95, maybe 96 at times when he needed it. Most of the time he was hovering around 91-92. well back then he was a starter so he wasn't throwing with top velocity. i'm pretty confident that he could have thrown upper 90s if he were just a one inning guy.
  8. attacks aren't random if they're made in response to dumb comments.
  9. Did David Kaplan contribute to that report? the kapman wasn't at the ballpark... he was at a local restaurant enjoying some delicious mexican food (courtesy of lazy illegals)
  10. i guess aramis felt like he should make up for it so he botched a couple of plays today.
  11. not to mention the loans/child care arrangements for balkan basketball players 10 years ago.
  12. i sure hope that catcher's interference wasn't on koyie hill, since he's only around because he is so amazing defensively.
  13. oh well at least castro is still good.
  14. hopefully he wins the cy young
  15. Hey. The last time the Cubs finished as bad as or worse than they did last season, they won the division the next year. Is there a more unpredictable sport than baseball? yes, hockey. the cubs won in 2007 because they spent a buttload of money on new players, didn't have mass injuries and pulled the plug on carlos marmol as starter. plus the division was a joke.
  16. lol @ zero posts on yesterday's game. seems interest in this team is sky-high.
  17. (a) detroit is barely east of indianapolis (b) cleveland is east of detroit © if a team moved and there was realignment, the first order or business should be to have an equal number of teams in each division, not a four-team AL west and a six-team NL central.
  18. grabow [expletive] sucks. great signing hendry you d-bag.
  19. only the cubs give up 13 runs in their first game of spring training.
  20. their top point scorer from the previous season gets waterboarded.
  21. it's 2011 and you don't have paypal, what gives? kidding aside, i have a stack of $20 bills from my last trip back to the u.s. that i haven't changed into aussie dollars because the exchange rate for USD blows, plus i know i'm going to need them in a few months when i go back to the u.s. can i just send you a $20 in the mail and that will cover my fees for this year and next year?
  22. yeah, i hated when the cubs loaded their whole lineup with RH batters against LHP. i don't lefty batters who can't hit LHP in the lineup, but if their splits aren't too bad then keep 'em in.
  23. i wish the sixers would have traded iguodala. he's been having a diminished role in the offense (meaning he's not the obvious #1 option on offense any more), still is a good passer, rebounder and defender who would have made a difference to a good team. i'm resigned to the sixers being mired in average-ness without a true superstar for the foreseeable future, but dealing iguodala would have opened up evan turner to take a bigger role on offense. i guess it depends on what we'd get for iguodala... if it's a couple of first round picks from a good team, forget it... we get enough mediocre first round draft picks from making the playoffs and losing in the first round every year.
  24. Why would he care about candy if he's pitching in a game? I lol'd the better question is what's erik's toddler doing on a pitching mound at that age?
