yeesh, and i thought me having a concert during an NLDS game was bad. why would you plan such a thing?! my girlfriend has a conference in auckland and new zealand is one of my favorite places in the world. just got carried away and didn't consider all the implications. :(

just realized i'm going to be on vacation in new zealand during the first 4 games of the world series, and hiking the routeburn track (definitely no phone/internet coverage) for games 3 and 4. :x

the rangers are 30-8 in one run games and have an expected w-l record that's 11 games worse than their current record. the rangers are the fourth-best team in the american league, after the blue jays, red sox and indians (in some order).

i'm actually pretty okay with wood pushing his ERA up toward his FIP. it's not ideal that one of our worst relievers is leading the team in relief innings pitched and appearances, and the sooner that maddon realizes how lousy he's been, the better.

he made an awful strike three call on bryant earlier in the game, but otherwise i feel like he has been okay. maybe it's just diminished expectations after having a blind man adjudicating balls and strikes last night.
